there are these causes, you have no tools and meter and work blind then ask the blind (worse) for help in a text box.
we can not guess what is wrong
So going to shop and let there skills and tools find the CAUSE? not possible.????? or is car dead now/??????
the problem is, engine starter motor is dead(or intermittent)
the causes are this in order of easy checks and then low top higher costs based on Stats;.
1: fuses blown' ( I scan the PCM next but you lack tools!
2: battery is bad , fails load test or is intermittent (is new now)
the battery cables x2 has 4 lugs all 4 not loose or rusty. clean them.
3:
alternator is dead, and this makes even new batteries fail.
alternator belt not loose, and IP cluster lamp marked Bat/charge glows. is alt most times.
4: so JUMPcable starts fail? off 2nd car or AAA tow truck JUMPS? hummmm if yes this works the ALT is bad. not starter not battery all learned in test.
5: then engine funs JUMPED , a voltmeter across battery shows 13. to 15vdc, is good ALT below is bad. do not drive with alt dead or car goes dead in 1/2 hour driving.
6: ok will not JUmp start,? that means
PRNDL is bad or the starter.
bad see how tests and logic finds the truth.
sorry stop 7 should be 1.
7: shift the gear shift to park and crank fails so now shift to N
step on brake hold brake key on and shift to N.
Now crank in Neutral as your operators guide tells you (book)
if it cranks now the PRNDL switch is bad in the transmission and is not a bad starter. the scan tool told you it was bad but you have no tolls, sad no"?
in a real shop we know
hot wire the starter, and this proves it is good or bad in 5 minutes work, but I'm not teaching that. now
.
NEXT AND LAST the starter wild guessing and WARNING
do not replace any starter or alternator with battery cables connected
remove NEG lug is best. to of battery.
the car has 3 transmissions,
A/T normal
CVT , horror
and manual box.
the transmission TCM logic controls if the starter can spin.
PRNDL logic Park and Neutral only allow cranking.
if the PRNDL switches fail (be it selector or the sensor feedback)
it will never crank until fixed this.
and only scanning the PCM/TCM can tell you of either of those fails.
short answer,
do step 7 first.
and report.
to not guess a shop has. (just this one problem)
- a meter DMM (volts on dial turned)+ skill sets.
- a battery load tester. $25 tool. (charged first)
- a Scan tool, OBD2 usa, 2008 or newer tool is best. $200
- hand wrenches. (don't ask have a ton here ,vast of all types)
- Jumper cables and even charged batteries at the ready,
- a battery charger to make all that happen
end.
now you guess. hope that pans out and do read my warning.
or jump start car, see IP cluster lamp glow, called
(
Battery/gen/charge) glow ,engine running , oops ALT IS DEAD.
Charging System Indicator lamp. honda's words.
if yes ask what to do next.
jump start engine if runs
this lamp must be out.
page 349 glove box guide.
page 271 same manual covers this
"Use neutral if you
need to restart a stalled engine"< it tells how that page, read it
