1992 bmw ignition lock assembly replacement

How do I replace my ignition lock assembly in my 1992 bmw 325i e36?
I heard it was difficult, but can't afford to bring to a shop. I would like to have step by step instructions to replace myself. Do I need special tools or will everthing come apart with screw drivers, socket set, and pliers? Thanks in advance for any help.

How do i get my gear knob off bmw 325i

Some gear knobs have a set screw on them. Look at the base of the knob all the way around knob. If there is no set screw than it is on just tight with thread lock. You will need to use some force to remove. You also need to turn in a counter clockwise motion to remove.

The key cylinder is defective on my 1992 BMW 325i I can not remove it by the procedures in the manual the key turns but it does not turn the ignition switch can it be drilled out and replaced in this...

think you are past the manual stage its down to old fashioned know how ,remove the steering lock complete ,two bolt with heads sheared off ,try to tap anticlockwise with a centre punch and hammer ,if no joy then cut it off with a small radial cutter without damaging anything and remove the coil around the lock first ,its the factory immobilisor
