Hi Maurice, Check the wiring for damage. if the vehicle you are referring to has an electronic speedo a defective sender unit or cables could cause the problem. If it has a cable drive make sure the cable is not damaged. Check the wiring from the reservoir and make sure that the float inside the reservoir is free and not stuck. It would help us to know more about the vehicle? year of manufacture, type and model of vehicle? Do yo have any little critters looking for a home who would appreciate a nice engine compartment to move into. rats can cause havoc to wiring. In Africa we have that experience. Regards John
E brake ,please explain if this has an electric auto handbrake like a renault megane or is it all manual with a pedal on the side or a proper handbrake in the middle
Brake cable problem maybe , jack it up an pull the rear wheeles an brake drums ,if it has drums . Check the cable for corrosion etc.... Adjust if possible . Do you know how to do that ? Could have video on youtube showing how . Where do you live ? The rust belt , does the state where you live use salt on the roads in winter time .
{: ) Looks like your lightings got haywired. Have you had vehicle repairs recently? Anyway, it seems that you have poor grounding connections for the affected lightings. Some circuits share common ground, and ground terminals are strategically distributed on the vehicle. If these grounds don't have good contact with the body, chassis, or engine ground, circuit functions are badly affected. Thats why these ground points should be inspected and kept clean and tight, maintain that good wire and terminal contacts.
We can start with G100 located at the Left Front of the Engine Compartment on the left front body mount. See diagram below:
Check out also G401 which is located in the chassis harness, mounted to the left rear Body mount. This ground point is shared by the rear lamps like the brakes, reverse, and rear signal lamps.
If possible check also other ground points that you may visually come across while on your search. Be sure also that fuses are all inspected good.
I hope we get lucky in finding and fixing a certain lamp function, if not all. Goodluck.
the traction control system works off of the abs system so there is a code in the abs module that needs to be pulled so you know were to start to check the system out.the service engine light is a different system all together and there is a code in the ecm that must be pulled so you know were to start to check to repair that system.you don`t say why you jumped to the conclusion that the gas cap set a code.the emergency brake light will come on if the e-brake is not all the way in the off position(something may be holding the lever up just enough to put the light on.the switch could be misadjusted and needs to e readjusted.
When your ABS light stays engaged after inital startup then that signifies a problem with the ABS system itself.Normally, this does not make the vehicle unsafe to drive, unless there is a noticeable fluid loss, which would give you a very poor brake pedal.Although this vehicle can still be driveable, the ABS sytem will not work, properly.........You can physically check the brake fluid level under the hood, and even remove the wheels to look at the brake material itself, but normally ABS lights signify a greater problem, which would require a scan tool (which runs about $800 U.S. Dollars) to diagnose properly.I hope I could help......rate me accordingly
mcdevito75 here, After you installed new brake light swith did you adjust to make sure it"s contacting the brake mechanism, also check for power at the switches plug. Check also your brake light bulbs.
The handbrake cable attached to the end of the parking lever, runs on the underside of the car & is then divided to 2 cables via Y junction These cables go unto the backside of he wheel drum and on pulling the parking lever pulls the cable towards the front of the vehicle.On the rear wheel each cable is attached to a oinion which moves the drum brahes(rear wheels) and engages on of the brake shoes in both wheels, pulling it from the center(front to back) exerts enogh braking such tha vehicle will not move, even on>30 degree angle....sodeep
Offhand, the brake light warning on most dashboards would indicate that the hand/emergency brake is engaged. If even when the hand/emergency brake is disengaged or is in normal position and the light is still lit, it could indicate that:
the brake fluid in the reservoir is below minimum level;
and possibly the brake shoes/pads need replacement.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.
