First check brake fluid level then you will have to test the wheel speed sensors that the codes refer to. when there is a sensor problem it will activate both the abs and traction control lights. the red brake light comes on when there is low fluid condition(leak),worn brakes that need servicing. also if there is a abs module problem it can set codes. you need to know what the codes mean this is a starting place to diagnoise.

SOURCE: My 2002 Lincoln LS v6

Had the same problem with my 2002 Lincoln LS, it was a bad wheel speed sensor. The right front wheel bearing had some play in it, so I had the hub assembly replaced. The hub assembly comes with a new wheel speed sensor attached. After I replaced the hub assmbly with sensor, the ABS and Traction Control lights went off. No problem since!

SOURCE: Hello, I took my 2002 Lincoln LS to the Ford

The speed sensor is found on the wheel hub. It is the only part which has wires connected to it. Usually you would see hoses for the brakes in that area.

For additional information, I have managed to get a video.

Abslight stays on. How to fix? This is a2007trailblazer?

First you need to have EBCM - electronic brake control module check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's . If the light is on there is a code stored . I think most part stores can do this and for free . After you find out what code is stored , looking up that code in service repair information for diagnostic trouble shooting chart would be next step . There are a few codes too.
DTC C0035 or C0040
DTC C0045 or C0050
DTC C0110
DTC C0131
DTC C0161
DTC C0186
DTC C0196
DTC C0201
DTC C0240
DTC C0241 or P0856
DTC C0244 or P1689
DTC C0245
DTC C0283
DTC C0287
DTC C0290 or C0292
DTC C0455
DTC C0550
DTC C0558

Find the code do the diagnostic's , fix the problem , wiring issue's , a sensor , bad module ,what ever it is . The light will go out then . Here is a sample of code discription .
• DTC C0035 Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit
• DTC C0040 Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit

Why is my Lincoln LS V8 2002 has the ABS and Traction Control light on?

The traction control works off the ABS system You will need a scan tool capable of reading ABS codes before you can further diagnose the problem If you are able to retrive the abs codes searrch on the internet for the trouble code Many times it is a wheel sensor or bad connection on the sensors .

AFTER HAVING THE 2000 LINCOLN LS TESTED GOT THE CODE B1342 ABS MODULE, THEY REPROGRAMMED IT, TEST DROVE IT & EVEYTHING WAS OK WELL LATER ON THAT DAY ABS, BRAKE & TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ALL CAME...

I would take the car right back to the shop that cleared the code. There was a 50/50 chance of clearing the codes. The good thing is now the shop will be able to pin point the failure with the fresh code. Most of the time the abs controller is going out. The controller also might not be readiing the tire sensor . If one sensor goes out the abs light will come on. The controller could be working fine and one of the sensor has to be replace. That is the cheapest cost. The abs controller and abs hydraulic controller is big bucks to replace , The part is around 1500 bucks. The tire sensor are around 25.00 35.00 each.

The manufacture has made the vehicle to where if the abs system is not working correctly then the brake system will automatically work as normal brakes with out the abs system.

Yeah its a pain in the you know where to take back but I would fight tooth and nail with the shop not to charge you any additional check out time. If the shop stands behind there work they will not charge you additoinal check out time.

Good Luck

Lincoln ls year 2000 v8 3.9litres

ABS and traction control really are only for panic stops and if your tires slip on wet surface's and yes each tire has a sensor on it. However if the brake light comes on this has nothing to do with the ABS or traction control lights. It's not a parking brake light. This light tells you, you have a serious brake problem.
