I purchased a 94 Lasabre and the security light is on. The car does not start at times until the secon or third time. Is this a security issue? The only time it doesnt start is when the security light is on.
Yes . the lock has a sensor in it that sees the key its either the sensor or the key its self . on this car most the time the wires to the sensor that run down the colum are the problem

Try to reset the security system, Do this it takes 30 minutes. Turn the ignition switch until the starter "just" clicks but don't let the engine start then let the key come back to run and wait 10 Minutes the security light will change after 10 Minutes turn the switch off then to bump the starter ect. Do this 3 times and after you turn it off the (Third) last time turn the key and allow to start. This should fix it. I hope this helps. Take care. If this doesn't work or you need more help use comment and it will show up in my email.
Its a 30 minute process.
Turn the ignition from off to on
Attempt to start the vehicle then relese the key to the on position for 10 minutes until or until the security light goes off.
Turn of the ignition wait 5 seconds and and repeat the above steps 2 more times, After the third time make sure the ignition is in the off position for at least 5 seconds then attempt to start the truck.
It takes awhile i had the same problem with my 2002 astro and just a note sometimes this procedure doesnt work the first time its a real pain
Turn the key on for ten minutes, turn it off for thirty seconds. This should reset the security. There is a relearn. It is three times this. Start the car after the third time. Put it on a charger.
turn the ignition key to the on position ( until all the lights come on) wait ten minutes then turn off, turn right back on repeat this 3 times. after the third time , it should start.
turn the ignition on, wait ten minutes turn off then try to start. some models have to be done three times. dont try to start it until after the third time
the security system may need relearned. This may work. . . Turn the key to the on position and leave it there. It may take anywhere from 8-10 minutes for the security light to STOP flashing and go out. At this point, turn the key to off. Repeat this process 2 more times, a total of 24-30 minutes all together. After the security light has gone out the third time, you should be able to start the car. Hope this works for you
I have ran into this problem many times. Insert the key, and turn it to run. After 10 minutes the security lamp should go out. Turn the key off, and then back to run and let it sit another 10 minutes until the security lamp goes out again. Now repeat this one more time for another 10 minutes until the lamp goes out again. This should be a total of 30 minutes so make sure your battery is fully charged when you start the procedure. After the third time and the lamp going out you should be able to restart the vehicle.
You need to reprogram the security system. Hook up a battery charger. Turn the key on, the security light should flash. Leave the key on until the light stops flahing.(11 minutes) Turn the key off for 20 sec. Turn the key on, do the same thing a second time, turn the key off. Turn the key on. Do this a third time. After the third 11 minutes and the light is off, Start the truck.
