is it blowing a 40 or 60 amp maxi-fuse located on the passenger side front area of the engine compartment located in the fuse panel? If so i believe 95-96 had the wiring for the fans to close to the exhaust manifold causing the insulation on the wiring to melt which in my case resulted in a dead short off and on blowing the fuse.
i had the same problem with a little more symptoms, that you have reported. i found that there was a recall on he fuel line. the stainless steal line wares down and begins to leak. This issue affects the oil pressure and causes the car to stall.
Open the door and pull back the boot that covers the wires. You should be able to push it into the door to give a good look and room to splice the broken wires. Put the boot back when done.
I had this problem and dealer said I needed a new tranny. Took it for second opinion at local trans shop and they replaced the shift switch in the tranny for $250.
