When driving in my fiat punto r reg 1.2l it wont go into the third gear it makes an horrible grinding noise and wont allow to go into gear. whats confusing me is ive just had it in a garage for the clutch it wouldnt let me go in any gear so ive just paid 180pound to have a complete clutch fitted and now the third gear wont work and their were nothing wrong with the gears before i took it to the garage and they want 280pound to get it repaired ive no money left and dont know where to turn. could i fix the problem myself. would it be somthing simple like somthing out of place. please could you advise me on what to do.
Could also be a bad 3rd gear synchronizer.
The gear selectors have to be removed from the box to get the box out
it is possible that the selector area was not properly adjusted after installation of the box
you may be able to see the problem using a friend to shift the gears ( stationary -engine off) while you look at the selector movements --3rd gear will not select easily
the garage that did the job is a fault here as they haven't done the job properly or tested the car after the job to fix faults before you took it back
if you have to , take it to an accredited professional transmission service center for a diagnosis and quote
there will be nothing wrong with the box just the selector system

you need to change the flasher unit .... also check fuse # 24 on the fuse panel inside the vehicle. the flasher unit should be just under the dash on the steering wheel side... i have alot of information on that vehicle but i couldn't find where exactly the flasher unit is located.

normaly the ecu resets when the car is not running and u lock the doors wait 5 mins this normaly resets this
