Disconnected map sensor on 2006 Pontiac Montana sv6, reconnected sensor now van won't start. Get a "low engine power" message when I turn on the key. Tried disconnecting battery and touching cables

Engine rpm increasing 2-500 rpm with no change in acceleration. Tried running without air filter, ran the same, thought I would try the MAP sensor, just disconnected it and tried to start van, wouldn't do anything, re-connected sensor and got a short clicking noise (maybe 2 seconds) but not from starter, then just seemed electrically dead. Lights and dashboard still light up.

Have had every sensor replaced. Let it set for a few days it will crank for a day...the next moring it will not crank for days. Wiring has been run and checked, fuel pump comes on, started is engageing fine. One mechanic said it was not getting fire, he replaced a unit on the back of the engine that usualy goes bad...still wont crank...the next day it cranks. i am about to redy to give up.....but it has low miles. need some help.

SOURCE: 2004 Pontiac Grand Am no start. Tried to jump

Hi, check your hot power wire from the battery to the starter for a short to the exhaust manifold. It may also be shorted to the engine if the terminal has twisted around. You may want to just remove the wire and inspect it for melted or missing insulation. If that wire is OK, the problem may be that the solenoid is shorted internally. Please let me know if you have questions and thanks for using FixYa.

SOURCE: 2002 pontiac montana will not

Did you got the ignition switch checked. If ignition switch itself is getting short, then it will not let the car to start. Also get the voltage at starter relay checked. If the starter relay is short, then it will not let the car to start.------------- Test the voltage at starter. If there is proper voltage to starter this will confirm, whether the relay is issue or not.----------- To test the starter try this procedure.
--------- Measure the voltage at the starter solenoid. Place the red probe on the positive battery terminal on the starter solenoid and place the negative probe on chassis ground. Have someone turn the key switch to "START" while you measure the voltage. The voltage should be approximately 12.6 volts. If the voltage is correct, there is a problem with the starter. Remove the negative battery post and check the connections on the starter. But if voltage is very low and less that 12 volts, this indicates its faulty solenoid. If you follow the wire from starter solenoid, it will reach the starter relay. That starter relay is a 12 volt part.If there is no voltage to starter or solenoid then its faulty starter relay.----------
The ignition switch is also a 12 volt part.Check the voltage at ignition switch wiring harness, there should be 12 volt.If not the switch is the issue.-------Also try wiggling the key in ignition key lock cylinder , many a times the lock cylinder gets shorted or out of line or bit loose internally.--------- Getting this possibilities checked will point towards the faulty component causing the problem.-------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

SOURCE: Pontiac Montana 2006 won't start just clicks but

it sounds like the starter motor could be worn out, or could be as simple as the main pos wire is bad or corroded

2008 Pontiac Montana S6 Won't Start.

Sounds like the anti-theft/alarm system was triggered.
Have you tried locking and unlocking the driver door with the key to disable the alarm ?
And you need at least 12 volts to crank the engine so the battery may need to be charged up first.

2005 Pontiac SV6 Montana key fob unlocks doors but will not lock

For the sliding doors you need to clean the contacts, there are 6 or 8 on both sides, just wipe them clean as they are probably covered in oil/grease/grime.
