This a diesel. (our is 2.4Lgas(petrol)
cold starts fine, runs perfect cold RIGHT?
common rail system.

the PCM will tell you when those are bad, cranking for 5sec or running.
does your run,. ? if yes for get them. and scan engine PCM.
some sensor takes major work to reach.

get the FSM on that car. y
so get the FSM for your car, your engine and your country
The DI chapter covers this. read that yet? diagnosis?
did you use the scan tool an see what up's up or not ?

your engine really is.
1CD-FTV I4 (diesel)
that is the correct name, so study only that)

no start hot.
its too much fuel or tool little?
to little?
did you try test fuel to see if loss of fuel is the problem?
on diesel it's poor compression
or lost fuel , hot starts.
easy huh , no spark to check , there is no spark
some diesels have 1 sensor for injector timing.
if flooding , you get black smoke out the tail pipe, so id suspect
you'd have noticed that and did not see it.
test fuel, tests.
if this fails, a full hot compression test. its not the cam belt slippped
if runs ok cold,

i bet the injectors are shut down
the PCM tell you why, so let it.
SCAN it. after 5 seconds cranked.
almost all PCM report 1 bad pulse of 10 in all speed sensors.
(CKP or CMP )

the scan too , can see it fail, crank for 5seconds, and the the magic just happens, DTC's most books dont cover this correctly, but if you bench test ECUs, you learn this fast.

SOURCE: Toyota hilux 3.0 D4D hard starting showing crankshaft position sensor circuit malfunction code P0335.how do i solve this...?

Check the connection to crank sensor, if wiring is good and connection is clean then replace the crank sensor and reset the code, this is the first step, the computer could be a problem also but most times its the crankshaft sensor. good day

Testimonial: "The connections to the sensor were bad and the hard starting is gone. Thanks JB"

disconnect the cam sensor and test again. if it comes up with low then cam sensor is faulty cam and crank work together. best to change them both at same time.

Location of cam and crank position sensors

The cam sensor is located at the front right front side of the cylinter head, while you are facing the engine.---------- The crank position sensor located below the pcv valve that is located on block not the valve cover, its below the exhaust manifold. You will have to remove the catalytic converter to see the exact view of both the sensors. The camshaft sensor is on the head. The crankshaft sensor is in the block, just below the exhaust manifold. ------------ Thanks.Helpmech.

2002 pontiac montana with an occational starting problem

Go to Autozone and they will check your cars trouble codes for free and tell you what part you will need to replace. They are usually right 99% of the time. The crankshaft position sensor located behind the harmonic balancer maybe be bad. There is another crankshaft position sensor located on the engine block above and to the right of the oil filter. Or it could be the power train control module located to the right of the air cleaner box. This information is for the V6 3.4 engine. Buy the repair manual for your Montana and go to the engine performance section. The manual costs about $26.00

My car wont start

It is located on the outside of the engine near the camshaft. It is basically a small electronic gadget that has to touch the cam shft to read info and feed it to the computer. Are you recieving any fuel ? There could be other things that can be the problem not nessesarily the camshft sensor.... ie. the idle position sensor, the egr valve, the crankshaft sensor ,etc.

2002 Jeep Liberty 3.7L Engine Swap to newer 2004 engine

Has anyone made this work yet? I have the same problem 2002 jeep 3.7 and just installed a 04 motor. Timing is off. Some one had a good idea of mounting the crank gear to the out side of the harmonic ballancer and mounting the sensor with a bracket. What about the cam gear on the left side. Does the timing cahain have to come off to remove it? Or has any one swaped the wiring harnest, and computer.

Location of crank sensor on renault megane 1.6, 2004

bit confused...the cranksensor will be on the gearbox housing the camsensor will be near the cams not the gearbox if the camsensor has packed up it wont start but if it packs up while driving the engine will run untill you stop it then it wont start,a cranksensor could cause the engine to stop at anytime if it fails..your problem could be the idle air control valve or a timing related issue..
