You won't get through inspection. Just had this issue with mine. The throttle body and intake need to be cleaned out. these trucks are awesome but are known for bad build up in these areas. hope this helps.

I have a 0402 fault code on my 16 hid xsara what does that mean?

OBD II Fault Code
  • OBD II P0402
Fault Code Definition
  • Excessive EGR Flow
Symptoms
  • Check Engine Light will illuminate
  • In most cases, there are no adverse conditions noticed by the driver
  • In some cases, there may be performance problems, such as dying at stop signs or rough idling, hesitation, misfires or lack of power (especially during acceleration), and a decrease in fuel economy
Common Problems That Trigger the P0402 Code
  • Excessive Vacuum signal or Electrical signal to the EGR Valve
  • The EGR Valve is defective and is opening too far or not properly closing
  • Lack of proper EGR system feedback to the computer from the:
    • Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP)
    • EGR Temperature Sensor
Common Misdiagnoses
  • Ignition System
  • Fuel System
  • Oxygen Sensor
  • EGR Valve

How do you clear a blocked exhaust when code says insuffient emisions

egr valve bad,P0401 OBD-II Trouble Code Technical Description Insufficient EGR Flow What does that mean? EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It is part of the vehicle emmissions system, and is used to reduce combustion temperature and pressure to control Oxides of Nitrogen. There are generally three parts to the EGR system: the EGR valve, an actuator solenoid, and a differential pressure sensor EGR (DPFE). These things work together to deliver the correct amount of recirculation based on engine temperature, load, etc. The P0401 code means that OBD detected an insufficient amount of EGR. Symptoms You may notice drivability problems such as pinging (a.k.a. pre-ignition knock) when the engine is under load or the vehicle is at higher speeds. There may also be other symptoms. Causes A code P0401 most likely means one or more of the following has happened: The DPFE (differential pressure feedback EGR) sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced There is a blockage in the EGR (tube), most likely carbon buildup The EGR valve is faulty The EGR valve may not be opening due to a lack of vaccuum Possible Solutions In fixing this code, it is quite common for people to just replace the EGR valve only to have the OBD code return. The EGR valve is not always the culprit. Use a vacuum pump and pull the EGR valve open while monitoring engine RPM's & DPFE voltage. There should be a noticable difference in RPM's with the EGR open Clean out the EGR valve and/or tubing to remove deposits Check the voltage at the DPFE, compare to specified values (refer to a repair manual for your specific model) Replace the DPFE sensor (with a good quality / OEM one) Replace the EGR valve Related EGR codes: P0400, P0402, P0403, P0404, P0405, P0406, P0407, P0408, P0409

OBD-11 codes 0403 & 0405

code p0403 refers to EGR --circuit malfunction===causes ---wiring--EGR solenoid---ECM
code p0405 refers to EGR valve position sensor A --low input===causes ---wiring ---short to ground---EGRF valve position sensor--- ECM.
By only changing the EGR valve you have not fixed the problems that cause the valve not to work.

Using my OBD II on 2000 honda prelude trouble codes PO401 & (PO401 pd) all reads MIL on, monitors, 1 INC, EVAP, 7 ready, MISFIRE, FUEL, COMP, CATLYST, 02 sensor, 02 HTR, EGR. Will be cleaning out EGR, BUT...

I would start with whatever is causing the misfire. That seems to be the core of your emissions codes. Putting all codes together it seems to be clogged injectors vacuum leak. Seems to be causing stalling too.

Run great when cold heats up acts like bad vaulve or plug then run good again thinking caltic convert but not sure.need help not a lot of money

Don't jump to conclutions yet .What dose your oil pressure look like if you have 50 lbs or so not at idle when its running its not your valves . Next pull you a few spark plugs they should be a tan color and dry if so then the engine is running OK What you have is called an OBD 1 system so you are much more limited to seeing engine codes flashing on your daskboard compared to OBD 11 systems that were standerd after 1996 To me this sounds much more like a problem with the EGR valve then the cat or one of the AB valves _AIR BYPASS for the emissions system or air pump . you can tell if the cat is cloged by checking the exhust flow out the tail pipe when its running cold if the flow is good and the exhust is getting out then its not going to be cloged the next munite when it warms up a little .You may have to take it to someone that has an OBD 1 code reader to test it but this sounds like EGR valve in a big way to me good luck

My codes are 11,13,24,32 and 52 could someone please tell me what these mean?

Code 11 means the system passes witch is not the case the OBD 1 systems have a lot of exceptions from vehicle to vehicle and year to year . 13 is the idle tracking motor is out of sink with the throttle plate 24 is the air charge sensor and 52 has to do with the idle tracking moter as well. I wouldn't worry for now about these. 32 On the other hand is the EGR valve or if you have a pressure feed back solenoid on the back of your carburator .But the problem is most likely the EGR pisition sensor or the EGR valve it self good luck
