All sorts of problems

I have a late model 94 tahoe with the 95 engine in it. i bought it and drove about 30 miles and it locked up completely due to a faulty mechanic with the previous owner no oil was reaching the engine after they replaced the spider. my fiances step dad got an engine of the same year from a scrap yard and replaced it for me but the new engine has problems too. oil i appearing in the bottom of the engine after driving and the engine is smoking. the steering is also starting to go out and its not wanting to shift when going uphill. Its also not wanting to go forward when the wheels are turned too far. I really do like this truck and dont want to get rid of it but i dont know too much about engines.

First of all,the spider assembly,also known as injector nozzles are located on top of the physical intake manifold,normally there should not be any conflict whatsoever servicing the spider assembly to cause any oil starvation issues. As far as your plethora of other problems,maybe related to your issue,but doubtful,you may not want to hear this but you really need to take this vehicle to a reasonable,also very competent technician to diagnose the list of problems,i strongly suggest that you cease any more semi pro help or the hole will certainly get much deeper!!!!

    i cant really afford to take it to a mechanic and the one who replaced the engine is really good he has build engines from scrap that run good but the engine was old that we got i dont know the old mechanic from the previous owner all i know is what ronnie told me and he said there was no oil in the engine but it had plenty showing with the dipstick.

A tune up will not cure the lean code, in fact an engine miss gives a rich code from the unburned fuel. I would suggest u verify u have no vacuum leaks, also clean the inside of the MAF sensor if so equipped and replaced the bank two O2 sensor, that is the passenger side sensor before the catalytic converter. If u have the money replace both right and left sensors, it is better to do them in pairs.

SOURCE: white smoke from exhaust

Hello;
The white smoke is from coolant entering the combustion chamber(s). Coolant can enter through the water passages sealed bu the head gasket. You have probably blown a head gasket. You should check your coolant level. You may have acracked head if you continue to drive it and overheat. The temp gauge only reads when exposed to coolant, not air. Take out thhe spark plugs and look them over. A white glossy apperance will indicate water in the combustion chamber. You may need to surface the head once you have it removed so that it is flat. Hope this helps.
Thanks;

SOURCE: I have a 2005 chevy avalanche 1500 5.3L 327, i

The carbon on the spark plugs and black smoke coming out the tailpipe means you are running rich. (Too much fuel) this can becaused by anything from a bad Mass Airflow Sensor to a stuck injector to a leaking Fuel Pressure Regulator to a bad Upstream Oxygen sensor.

First, you need to check fault codes to see what the computer says the problem is. I would not be pouring injector cleaner in your vehicle unless you are absolutely certain the the cleaner you are using is going to be compatible with your fuel system. I've seen a lot of fuel system damage as a result of that.

In 2005 Chevrolet Avalanch had two different 5.3L engines one was flex fuel and the other was not.
The 8th digit in your VIN will tell you which engine you have. if it is a "T" it is standard gasoline and if it is "Z" it is a flex fuel engine.

There are several Technical Service Bulletins (TSB's) issued by GM for the fuel systems on BOTH of these engines. Depending on your engine type and the codes retrieved from the Engine Control Module, these TSB's may or may not apply to your problem.

Recently bought XJS V12 with 15K miles; driven only 1K miles since 1993. I drove the car 250 miles the day I bought it with no problems. Since then, it idles well for 30-60 seconds but then stalls.

Check the fuel filter(s). Your long drive may have shaken dirt or old fuel gunk ("varnish") loose and plugged the filter most of the way. Enough fuel gets by to start the engine, but then it starves when you put it under load.

Just test drove car with 80,000 miles on it. Seems sluggish to go from a stop. Otherwise, shifts great. A common Volvo thing (never drove one before) or possible transmission issue? Thanks

check the colour of the transmission oil --it should be bright colour and not smell burnt
run the fault codes as it may be engine sensor problems or TCM problems
Unless the timing belt has been changed ,it is 20.000 miles overdue for a belt change ( big money repair)
( volvos s60 --30.l,s80/t63.0l/3.2l, v703.2l, xc60/t63.0l/3.2l,xc70/t63.0l/3.2l, xc90 3.2l) all run timing chains
Have an independent inspector check the vehicle over

My 07 tahoe has no oil pressure ive drove it 10 mile to get homeit still runs good but still not showing any oil pressure

Hello, if your engine did not have oil pressure , I doubt you could drive it ten miles. I think you should check your oil pressure with an auxiliary pressure gauge. More than likely you might only need a new oil sending unit.

I have a 95(ChVy)TaHoe but clacks real loud due to no oil Help!

It sounds like your lifters are stuck. Put a can of seafoam or trans fluid in the oil drive it 50 miles or so and change the oil. Use a good oil and see if this helps. If it works it don't hurt to do this everytime before an oil change. This keeps your engine very clean

Chevy tahoe shuts off when driving

i am on here because of an issue i am currently having with a 2004 tahoe, but after reading some the other problems people are having i will let you in on a previous experience i had with a 2002 chevy truck. my previous vehicle was a 02 chevy 2500hd with the 8.1 and the problem started on day when suddenly it shut off. it did restart with no problem. i never had that problem again until a month later and 1500 miles away when i went to texas to visit my sister. this time it took nearly 30 mins before it would restart. it would crank over fine but no fire. then suddenly out of no where it would fire up like nothing ever happened. so anyways to make a long story short i visited two different gm service centers, they did tune ups and diagnostics, and handed me the bills for over 500 dollars and told me that should do it. yea right the problem continued and then i searched online and one item that kept coming up was the crank position sensor. after reading what those people were dealing with i gave it a shot. went to the dealer bought a new sensor ($99) took an hour to install it and i never had the problem again. one last thing im gonna add. i had a friend that drove a late 90s or early 2000s grad prix, she was having the same problem and had her car in and out of the shop and never got it resolved, i told her to have them check the crank position sensor and bingo, she never had the problem again.
