The fuel filter is contained in the fuel sender assembly inside the fuel tank. the paper filter element of the fuel filter traps particles in the fuel that may damage the fuel injection system. The fuel filter housing is made to withstand maximum fuel system pressure, exposure to fuel additives, and changes in temperature. There is no service interval for fuel filter replacement.
IMPORTANT: This vehicle has a lifetime fuel filter built into the fuel sender inside the tank and thus is not serviceable separately. The fuel filter is not a replaceable part.
first check the fuel filter. check before and after the filter if you get fuel before it then check after it, no fuel before go back to the pump. if you get fuel after then go to the fuel rail on the motor. open the line before the pressure regulator, if you get fuel then check after the regulator, if none after then the regulator is bad, if the regulator is vacuum assisted check your vacuum.

The combination fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator is used on all engines. It is located on the top of the fuel pump module. A separate frame mounted fuel filter is not used with any engine.
Both fuel filters (at bottom of fuel pump module and within fuel pressure regulator) are designed for extended service. They do not require normal scheduled maintenance.
Release the fuel pressure by loosening the gas cap, raise and support the car on jack stands, squeeze the plastic tabs on the male end of the connector, and pull the connector apart. Some models have 2 tabs, and others have 1 and the fuel line screwed into the other side.Remove filter mounting bolt, unhook tab from frame and remove filter. when you put in the new filter, make sure the arrow is pointing toward front of engine. On the line with plastic tabs, just push on till you hear a click, then pull on it to make sure it's latched.Don't forget to tighten gas cap.
