2001 Eclipse GT Non-Functioning Sunroof

I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT and my sunroof simply doesn't work. There is not sound of a motor running when I press the button, and nothing happens either. I replaced the fuse with no luck, but I think it's probably the motor. How do I find the motor in the car and replace it? I don't want to buy a repair manual, so if someone could please just tell me where the motor is located. Thanks!

The sunroof motor is right above the open/close button inside the headliner. You are going to have to remove the headliner to replace it. Just a couple of screws and a connector from there.

2001 mitsubishi eclipse sunroof wont open but i can hear the motor

Mine did the same thing...took me 8 years to figure it out without having to pay for a repair at a shop. When it lifts the centimeter on its own, push up on glass with your hand with moderate pressure till it frees up, then just push the button towards the rear of the car and it should open the sunroof completely! How i now have to open mine but its awesome after 8 years and Ill work with that...

I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse (don't buy one EVER). The sunroof is stuck open and has been for a few weeks. I took it to the shop and had the fuses looked at. They were good. I just replaced th

Just as a possible solution just to close the roof, remove the motor and try an manually pull the roof closed, if it does'nt move it could possibly be the operating rack that pulls the foor back and forth, in which case it will require dismantling the roof assembly

Hello, I got a Eclipse(2000) and the sunroof open but don't close. And I check the all the fuse and they are alright. Thanks

Sounds like the sun roof motor has given up, remove it and apply 12 volts to the motor connector it should run. If not you can most likely just replace the motor. Your best bet is to try and find a used one as parts for this car are very expensive.

How do i manually close a sunroof for a mitusbishi montero after the sunroof motor fails?

Depending on the year of your vehicle....
Earlier models had a sunroof wrench. The manual states that ..."the electronic sunroof system cannot be operated manually. The sunroof wrench that was used in previous models is not provided".

Now that may mean that if you had the wrench it could be operated manually.

I did find something else here :
NOTE: If there is a problem with the sunroof motor so that the
roof lid glass cannot close fully, use an Allen wrench to turn the
gear section of the sunroof motor to fully close the roof lid
glass.

Access seems to be just above the sunroof switch.
