I have rechecked the timing on the belt all marks line up with the marks on the block. I have replaced the relay for the fuel pump sorry for forgetting that info. I have scaned the computer there are no codes it shows timing at 5 deg. before tdc fuel pump in drive mode. The fuel rail has no tap for pressure test and it and the regulator are located under the intake manfold. I have to remove it in order to get to the rail and injectors.

SOURCE: 2002 Kia Sportage will not start.

p0560 is system voltage problem. open or short between the battery positive and the ecm.CHECK ALL FUSES. dosnt matter what they are labeled under dash and under hood replace any that are bad and retry to start. no start then check voltage to ecm grounds to. i dont have a wireing diagram to give you but for a small fee or free the dealer can make you a copy.make sure all the wires that go to battery terminals are not corroded and are making good contact [verified with volt meter]. if after all checks ok then replace ecm. as a side note i havent had to change one ever.

Testimonial: "Thank you for the help. We will continue to check all fuses and wires."

How do you change battery cables in a 2005 kia sorento lx

If a car like yours dies while driving then I would suspect a fuel pump issue or a crank position sensor issue. Has your timing belt been replaced? that should be done at 100k miles. If the timing belt is coming apart it will throw pieces of itself onto the crank position sensor. Have someone check the fuel pressure and inspect the timing belt and crank sensor.

Kia Sorento V-6 start-up difficulty

You probably should perform a fuel pressure test to see if the fuel pressure is bleeding off of the fuel rails when the engine is shut off. If it is, you could have a bad fuel pressure regulator or a bad check valve in the fuel pump module (which will require replacement of the module).

One way to test for this condition without any tools is like this:
cycle the key ON, wait about two seconds, then OFF, wait about 2 more seconds, and back ON again. Repeat his 3 or 4 times before turning the key to the CRANK position. If the engine starts immediately every time you do this, then the hard starting is definately caused by the fuel pressure bleeding off.
