My 1995 jeep grand cherokee laredo 4.0 inline 6

My jeep idles fine in park and neutral but when i put it in gear it starts to idle roughly like it is missing and it hesitates when the accelerator is pressed i have recently changed the crankshaft position sensor. what else could it be?

    replaced the plugs but it didnt change gonna check the distributor and rotor tomorrow

    it was the motor mount was completely shot actually fell apart when i applied pressure to it with my hands got it changed now no more rough idle good firm and smooth

Something mechanical, ignition, or fuel.
It can run rough under a load such as in gear and ok in neutral with no load. Have you checked the plugs and dist cap ?

the only problem that vehicle has is with cooling fans is relay/module or electrical harness to module that burns up located behind and under right front headlamp assy must remove headlamp to access relay/module that is what powers up fan motor module assy.

SOURCE: Where is Neutral safty sensor switch located on Grand Cherokee

OK then the switch is part of the gear selector switch on the side of the trans where the shift linkage hooks up. here is a picture and part number.

Fig. The coolant temperature sensor is installed in the thermostat housing (click image for zoom).

  1. Partially drain cooling system until coolant level is below cylinder head.
  2. Disconnect coolant temperature sensor wire connector.
  3. Remove sensor from thermostat housing.
