Volvo 740 GLE will start and stay running for about a mile or less then it dies. I can restart the car but as soon as you place your foot on the gas pedal or put the car in gear it dies. I've replaced the fuel pump in the tank and put a new fuel pressure regulator. But, the problem is still there. Help please.

have the flex plate for the automatic checked as it is thin and is not under stress when the brakes are off
run the fault codes to determone other sensor problems
Does check engine light come on and if so it could be a sensor failing and if not i would suggest changing fuel filter and a good tuneup and if no help you may want to have fuel pressure test preformed which tells if fuel pump is weak and may need replaced....hope this information help and good luck please rate my post and it help more help is needed feel free to contact me...

we have the same car, i would have a mechanic check the ECU. thats the first step in finding out what is wrong and why its burning so mutch fuel. it could also be your air filter, but then agian, you wouldnt be burning a tank of gas a day. well hope you get it fixed.
