Question about 2001 Volkswagen Beetle
Is there anywhere online that i can get a free electrical diagram of heat & aircondition for a 1.8L 2001 VW Beetle? If so whats the URL?
Try not to assume that because the compressor clutch is not receiving a 12V supply, there must be an electrical fault. It is quite possible that the A/C control unit is intentionaly not even attempting to power up the clutch because of a number of possible faults in other areas.
1. The aircon system has insufficient refrigerant (gas) in the system, possibly due to a leak. The system has a preasure sensor, that provides the A/c control unit with this information, and if the system is low, then it will not attempt to engage the compressor.
2. The preasure sensor itself is fauly and is providing a false reading.
3. The radiator cooling fan circuit has a fault. If there is a fault code stored to this effect, then again, the A/C system will not engage, because the air con condesor (or the air con radiator) at the front of the car must be cooled for the system to work.

I know how to repair the system. It is an electircal issue. The compress or clutch does not engage. It works if i supply independant voltage to it. It is not getting voltage through the wiring like it should. I bought a service manual for 2000 VW that was supposed to include 2001 models but not of the wire colors are the same; non of the fuses indicated in the schematic in manual are correct in the car. I need a good free electrical schematic for a 2001 Turbo Charged 1.8L VW Beetle that matches the car.
