Check power to the starter motor solenoid. If this is getting power when cranking, then the issue is with the starter motor solenoid or starter motor. Replace.
1) Do you have spark? Crank sensor? 2) Another quite common prob with them is the key reader. either the little metal bump on the key worn or the reader at the barel where the key makes contact but from memory if that no good it won't crank (can't remember)
What you are saying is the key switch is worn out, and there is a separate problem with the engine performance. Either an import shop or the dealer are your options here.
If the wrong key was inserted it may have bent a tumbler pin,maybe try some wd-40 or similar and work it with the right key,might drop the tumbler back,,if not the whole ign. cylinder will have to be changed
