SOURCE: How do I replace the interior LH door handle 97 Jeep Wrangler?

you will need a t-20 or t-15 torx bit driver to remove 2 screws holding the handle this is all that holds them on, on once you have a replacement handle it is easier to remove 2 lower screws on the door panel and unsnap the door panel to loosen it this will allow space making it easier to reinstall new handle just slide each end into the slot and reinsert 2 screws to not fully tighten until door panel is snapped back in. the panel is held on with clips and can be released using plastic pry tool around door panel edges.

SOURCE: Jeep TJ Wrangler Outer door handle removal

The handle is held in place by two vertical wedges on both sides of the handle. To remove just force the wedges up with a hammer and screwdriver (be careful of the glass). Putting them back in is very difficult. I would suggest making the bends or adjustments with it installed so you'll know exactly how much you need. I hope this helps.

Remove the inner door panel and check to make sure that the linkage rod that goes between the outer handle and the latch is connected. It's possible that the plastic end clip broke.

My door will not open with the outer latch. Its a 2002 jeep wrangler X with full doors.

I've seen this way too many times...the rod connecting the handle and the actuator has come off. You can take the door panel off and reconnect it - just take a good look, it's very obvious how where it fits in to. If the rod will not stay in the slot on the handle or the actuator the clip is broken - the handle's clip will come with a new lock rod, but the clip on the actuator is integral and you'd have to replace the entire actuator - also very easy.

Check around your door handle for damage - this happens a lot during breakins.

My 1993 Jeep Wrangler drivers side door will not open from the outside. Do I need a new door handle? The lever moves but it doesn't open the door. I had a 'so-called' mechanic take the door apart to fix it...

the door lever is attached to the lock by a piece of wire with clips,it is a ***** to get to but once the inner door panel is off, with the window up,you should be able to see the fault,(if its the lock itself, that can be replacd on its own,you DO NOT NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE DOOR (nice try,to make a few bucks though)more importantly, pass the word around about this "artist".
a dealer will take about an hour to sort out this problem....

How do I remove the door panels froma 2003 jeep wrangler

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

1997 Jeep Wrangler left interior door does not work. The lock rod is visible, but I have not been able to locate the position or see the latch rod. Could it fall complete off? If so, how do I get to it to...

Not only do you have a lock rod but you have a lacth control rod. That's the one that's not working. Remove the door panel and replace the plastic clip that broke with a new one.

Jeep 1992 yJ Outside Door Handle

ok, the inside panel is cardboard with faux leather. remove the screws holding on the inside handle and the frame of the doorlatch.

there is a plastic joint that connects the two rods that actuate and open the door. the rods are bent at the end to slip into the white plastic joint. this design is stupid and often times that joint can break, or the rods fall out. solution is to reattach them together and wrap mechanics wire or bend the very ends of the rods so they wont come out.

its something i cant really explain, but the design is straight forward. also, keep track of the threads on the rod that connects to the claw that meets the striker on the frame of the jeep. if for any reason its not adjusted properly, it will not latch properly.

Inside door handle rod on a Jeep Wrangler 1999

You will need to remove the door panel. Most use a special clip to attach it to the lock mechanisim. Look in the bottom of the door to find the clip that fell off. If you can't find it you will have to go to chrysler to get another clip or try a wrecking yard and they will probably just give it to you.
