I have recently done a oil change and spark plugs and new ht leads but all off a sudden the tappets have started making a bad noise and makes the car sound awful i am wondering if they are hydraulic or they are manual and just looking for advice how to fix them thanks

check fuel filter and check fuel for water or contaminents
then check fuel pressure with gauge also while driving
may have pin hole in leads - spray water with salt solution over HT leads while engine running and then rev to see or here spark jump(missfire)
recheck spark plugs - did you crack any on installation/removal/installation?
what are the codes and description if stored?
what is engine live data parameters like do they look normal (right specs for range/operation)?
check cylinder compressions wet and dry
any difference of about 25PSI is enough to warrant engine repairs
sounds like plug might be fouling up with oil
ring problem?
these cars go through coil packs regularly as the packs overheat due to their position on the end of the engine. I have 3 lanos and have replaced all coil packs at around 90,000 k's.
Hope this helps.
What do you mean by 'turn over?' Is the starter not working or do you mean it isn't firing?
'Turning over' normally means that the starter is functional even though the engine doesn't start.
