Front axel will not go back in after seal replacement

I pulled the front axel out of my 03 chevy tahoe to replace the seal, now the axel will go all the way back in except about an inch. I think it should pop back into the clip just like it poped out, but it won't.

I had this problem with a 1997 suburban and a 1999 tahoe. I fixed it on the suburban by replasing the complete light assembly, and on the tahoe i just replaced the circuit board were the light bulbs and harness plug in its easy and inexpensive. good luck!

How to instal a transmission oil pum for chevy tahoe

It involves removing the trans from the vehicle pulling the pan off the bottom of the trans removing the tcc solenoid from the pump then removing all the bolts from the pump and pulling it out the front ... chances are though if the pump is bad so is the rest of the trans .. if its just a convertor seal leaking u need to drop the trans pull the convertor pry out the old seal from the pump and replace it with new .

1999 dodge cummins 2500 front axel seals

you need to pull off wheels,brakes, rotor /unit hub bearing, both axles and intermediate shaft, as well as the vac disconnec ton the front axle tube. if only the right side leaks then only then only pull the right axle and intermediate shaft and vac disco. it is a trick with a miller tool to replace the seal. the left side seal is inside the diff and the carrier has to come out to replace it. pete
