The average cv axle nowadays is around $50 in the aftermarket world and around an hour in labor to replace. If you buy just the joint then someone has to rebuild your current axle with the newly purchased joint and is going to charge you labor to rebuild on top of removing and installing which will cost you more then just replacing the cv axle assembly. Its cheaper in most cases nowadays to just replace the the cv axle assembly.
AND WHEN YOU TURN DOES IT CREEK? IF SO THE CV JOINT OR THE UPPER STRUT MOUNTS.. YOUTUBE STRUT MOUNT NOISE OR CV JOINT REPLACEMENT, BOTH ARE KIND EASY TO FIX AND IT WILL NEED AN ALINGMENT AFTER WORKS..
Yes because there is upper end lower ball joints on both sides of the car, But they don,t have to be remove, You just have to no whitch ones are shot, Any jobber will have them.
You can buy the replacement parts from any Napa, Carquest or major auto parts store chain, the CV joint is sold in a complete rebuilt assembly called a "Half Shaft". I show the cost to be about $50.00 each. Below is a picture of the assembly.
Suspect worn outer cv joint. Check the boot for any tears, damage or leaking grease. If these are present your cv joint will fail soon if it hasn't already. If you put the car into reverse and turn the wheels to a hard lock a bad cv joint will make a popping grinding type sound. Try left and right turns when doing this test.
You need to replace your CV ( constant velocity) joints. It's probably more cost effective to replace the axle halfshaft assemblies. This is not a repair I recommend for a novice, you may need to go to a pro.
