Audi A6 2000 wont start

Hi. I have not used my car for about 2-3months. The battery went dead as a result. I bought a new battery yesterday and installed it. When I turn the key on the dashboard and everything goes on. I would then have to press the immobilized remote before starting the car. However when I turn the key further to start the car after that, the car wont start. I used to hear a slight click sound upon pressing the immobilizer but I no longer hear that. The car was in perfect mechanical and driving condition before this. Its just the battery that became the issue. Please assist.

You have lost the immobilizer code. have you tried ignition to number 2 with lights on and press fob to lock then unlock doors. then try to start the engine. a flat battery for to long can wipe the code of the fob and ecu link if the battery has been off or flat for a to long period. only way to repair lost codes is a tec2 and your pass code for your vehicle. and if you dont have the pass code it can cost a fair bit to get the code from a dealer as they keep them on file for years then they get put back to back up after then and can take a bit of finding. if you battery in the future if you have a battery fail its best to put a good battery on again as soon as posible to stop this happening again.

SOURCE: alarm keeps going at random

I also had the same problem and mine too was usually because I had either a window or the sunroof slightly open. If it is summer and you need to leave them open slightly or if you have a pet in the car then heere is a great tip. There is a small square button near the bottom of the door pillar to the right of the drivers seat and if you press this before locking the car it will set the alarm for the whole car with the exception of the main cabin so movement will not set the alarm off. The locks, boot, ignition etc all stay alarmed until you switch it off.

SOURCE: Audi Quattro A6 will not go into drive

It's the brake pedal switch. There is a switch down on the pedal arm that closes when you press the pedal down, and sends a sensing voltage to the controller, telling it the brakes are applied. This allows the transmission lock to disengage so you can shift out of Park. When that switch fails, the lock won't disengage. You need to replace that switch and you'll be fixed.

SOURCE: Battery light stays on until I press the gas

Known issue to occur occasionally on VW/Audi. What is occurring is that the alternator is not spinning out fast enough to start charging, so the light is on. Once you rev the engine, the alternator starts to charge and remains charging till its shut off and restarted. It can be related to too low of an idle (not adjustable, unless you have a dirty throttle plate or air leak), the alternator itself (aftermarket or a bad rebuild) or an incorrect alternator pulley installed (too large).

SOURCE: Audi A6 Anti Theft Central Locking Tantrums

Sounds like you are having problems with your built-in alarm system. Like most systems in your Audi, you can read the error codes stored in the controllers. It takes a tool normally only a dealer has (VW or Audi) or an adapter like the VAG Com. (Google it)

I also think you can disable the alarm system and just use the key.

Could the lock button on your remote be stuck? Use a different key/remote. (leaving the suspect key at home.) The keys/remotes can be taken apart....

SOURCE: Have an audi a4 1.8T Cabrio. Battery went dead,

I had the exact problem with my A4 2001 1,9 TDI but i just turned the car on, then first turned the steering wheel to the left as far as it goes, then to the right (i dont know if this is necessary but this is what i did). After i drove for few meters, the light went off and it worked normally.

My battery is going down over night and i bought a new battery and it still goes down over night.

Have your alternator checked, it may charge some but not enough to keep your battery charged. If it has an internal short (blown diode)it can discharge your battery.

1996 audi a4 wont start

What happens when you try to start it? Does the engine turn over or is it completely dead? If you don't hear the engine turn over I would check to see if your battery is charged. If it isn't it's likely alternator went out. Report back if it's turning over (meaning the battery and alternator is good)

Put new fuel pump in 1987 volvo station wagon thats what was leaking I started to take car to work yesterday lights went dim car died found loose wire on alternater now fuel pump wont work anymore car wont...

Does it crank but not fire?
I would do the cheap things first - ohm out the plug wires, check the plugs, then the cap/rotor.

The fuel pump relay (the one behind the glove box) is known to go bad - I removed mine and reflowed the solder joints and mine never failed again - or you can replace that.

If your car is dead, check the negative cable to the battery that it's not corroded on either end.

Hi,

Thanks for using Fixya!

Sounds like you have an alternator problem. The alternator may have gone bad due to non use. Some parts inside may have rusted out and got damaged. Better bring your car to your local mechanic and have the alternator checked.

Have a wonderful day.
