Car shakes when drive

All you need is to make sure all your tyres have enough air, and get an alignment to top it off. I have that problem because i have a slow leak and as soon as I put air in it, my 98 begins to take off like a charm and purr. Just do the alignment to make sure the shaking stops in case it really needed one, but if you don't have the money to do it, check your tyres for proper amounts of air.

is the engine lite on? if a misfire shows, and the plugs are new, could be coil or wires. how does it idle? maybe air leak between mass air flow sensor and throttlebody.

Misfire means you need spark plugs replaced. Or spark plug coils.

That's why the whole car starts shaking because its running basically on 3 cylinders and not 4 as supposed. There is no gas compression on the 3rd cylinder because once again the spark plug is "misfiring"

There also might be even a bigger problem which could be the distributor cap where the coils are connecting outside the engine.
once you fix the problem the check engine will turn off immediately

poss torque converter lockup chatter , have codes checked , poss needs trans flush with mitsu sp3!! atf only ,or some type of mount or carrier bearing maybe worn

are you talking road noise from the tyres
or exhaust or suspension noises

I have a 2002 Lincoln LS, I replaced the power steering pump and still hard to turn. What else could be wrong?

non return valve pressure is better because it is new

was the the rack in good shape .
.check for leaks after the new pump fitted

i have blown a few old racks seals after replacing a new pump

when was its last wheel alignment
tyre air pressures

tie rod end play

air bubbles cleared out of the system ?
lock to lock till air is removed
top up

Enjoy some videos about leak and slow leak detectin in a tyre. If you don't have the equipment to do it or find it too hard, take it to some competent repair service. If is is losing air, they MUST find it.

Do i need a power steering flush and an alignment when they replace the rack for a power steering rack leak?

An accredited shop that knows what they are doing would be able to exchange a steering rack with out altering the wheel alignment. However having said that I would suggest that you have a wheel alignment done anyway as the alignment can be out before they did the job. Remember that it is the job of salesman to sell tyres so the recommendation to rotate tyres all the time hides the fact that you need an alignment and you have to buy 4 tyres at a time instead of 1 or done properly 2. By not rotating tyres then when a tyre shows abnormal wear it becomes noticeable as balance, alignrnent, tyre case problem, over/under inflation and you can take appropriate action to correct it.

Warning light on my car dashboard won't go off

The light doesn't go out after you top up the air pressure in the tyres.There is a reset button, that you should press, and that will reset the tyre pressure
Usually it is in between the front seats, about where the handbreak is.
Find the button, press it and hold it down for a couple of seconds, and that will make the warning light go off.

My 2008 ultima tires will leak air to the extent they are almost completely flat. It started with the passenger side rear almost completely flat. I would fill with air and it will last for 2-5 days. Now...

Your tyres need checking for slow punctures or leaking valves. If you want to do it yourself. You'll need a tub or pool big enough for a complete wheel. Fill it with water, then, remove one wheel at a time and put it in the tub/pool. look for bubbles, the puncture is where the bubble come from.

Of course you could go to a tyre shop and get them to check, once done and you know your tyres are in good order, the only other thought is that it may be someone having fun at your expense, you could get some lockable valve caps.

Your best bet is to break down and go to a good repair shop for a 4 wheel alignment.Most shops give a flat rate on alignments which means you will pay one price regardless of time it takes.Most modern cars have alignment adlustments on the rear suspension as well as front.Also certain vehicles are very sensitive to tire rotations.Make sure you don't exceed manufactures mile recomendations on rotations.Having it done at the proper times can in some cases double tire life.

Im stationed overseas and my grandmother has a 2003 santa fe 6cyl. she is getting bad tire wear. could this just be a front end alignment and how much should it cost to repair


1. It's hard to say without looking at the vehicle (and test driving it) but more than likely the front end is badly out of alignment. ( If the car has been in a significant front end accident and badly repaired then this could also be a source of the problem as the alignment may not be capable of being properly set).

2. The first thing to do is take the car to a specialist suspension and steering shop and have the wheel alignment checked and adjusted to factory specs. Normally this is not expensive for a straight forward alignment but price depends on the shop. A good suspension shop will also identify if there are any wear problems with the steering or suspension that need attention

3. Older drivers sometimes frequently hit kerbs when parking their cars. This will throw out the front wheel alignment every time (and damage tyres) so it must always be avoided. Scrubbed.scuffed tyre side walls are an indication of this as well as scratched wheel rim edges.

4. Some drivers never check tyre pressures. Low tyre pressures will cause much greater tyre wear as there is more friction. (It will also make steering heavier, place undue stress on the steering components, cause the car to handle badly and result in much higher fuel consumption).
The lady needs to ensure her car has at least 32 lbs pressure in both front tyres and at least 30lbs in the rear (which carries less weight). The pressures must be set with COLD tyres. Manufacturer optimum spec tyre pressures are usually set for comfort. These can be safely exceeded by a few pounds. It is far safer (and more economical) to run slightly higher pressures than a setting that is too low. (A good tyre will run all day with 38-40 pounds pressure and 36-38 is quite safe).

5. Worn out shock absorbers will also contribute to abnormal tyre wear. 70000 miles of average driving will see out a set of shocks. (Personally I would not leave them that long as the factory shocks are generally of average quality on this type of car)..

That's the best I can do Brad without seeing the car so I hope this helps some. Hopefully a good wheel alignment will fix the problem but make sure the tyre pressures are kept up as well. If the shocks are worn out they will also need to be replaced if the car is to be roadworthy.

Uneven tyre wear can only really be caused by either worn suspension or steering components, or wheel alignment angles incorrect. The best way to check this out is to get a wheel alignment carried out by a reputable specialist, as they will (or certainly should) go over your suspension and steering first to make sure there are no faults before they reset the wheel alignment. The other thing to note is that if the uneven tyre wear is bad enough the wheel alignment won't fix the wear problem, just slow it down.
The shimmy could be caused by a couple of things (driveshaft out of balance, tyre fault, wheel balance) but the best thing to do initially is get the wheels balanced first and see if that fixes the problem, and then go from there.
The same company should be able to both the alignment and balance, and these jobs should both be done periodically (at least whenever you replace tyres) to improve tyre life and make the vehicle easier and nicer to drive.
