Having problems starting 99 Chevy blazer have to chycle fuel after running starts right up already changed fuel pump

First thing in the morning, key on engine off, did you check proper fuel pressure before you changed anything? Do you have proper fuel pressure after changing the pump?

Cycling the key several times before you crank it, helps to pressurize the fuel system. Also, if you have the spider fuel system, that system is noted for problems. There maybe some service bulletin regarding cleaning the fuel poppet valves. Hard start in the morning, starts fine rest of day. The cleaning procedure I saw, was a shop procedure.

2000ford f-150 xlt v6, hasbeen running rough, went to blow some driveways this morning, it started twice then after the second one it wouldnt start. it didnt hit a lick.

Use a bottle of yellow HEET dry gas / fuel dryer to remove moisture in your fuel tank.

Check the coil + wires for water / moisture drip / wetness.

My 93 civic dx wont start in cold temps. I have changed my coolant temp sensor and my fan temp sensor. Its like moisture is causing it. It was 84 out earlier this afternoon the sun was down and it would...

What is the fuel pressure when this happens? You may have a defective fuel pump inside the fuel tank, it is bleeding down and this causes a loss of pressure and hard starting cold.

Buick Park Avenue hard to start and smell of gasoline at start

The sender the Expert is referring to is a temperature sensor that tells the computer your engine is cold. The control then enrichens the fuelmix, sets timing and goes into a run cycle after the engine is warmed up.

You instead may have a leaky fuel injector. This is bad because the gas that floods the engine can go into the oil pan and dilute the oil which eventually ruins the engine. A fuel line pressure reading is taken when the car is parked and then the fuel pressure is read later that day or the next morning.

If the pressure drops there is a problem. Some shops have machines which can benchtest the injectors when they are taken out. A single injector can be the whole cause or all may need cleaning or replacing.

There is a chemical that Dealers or Repair shops can insert into the fuel system by disconnecting your fuel source and inserting this can of chemicals. The engine is operated for a few minutes using only the cleaner as fuel. The car is suppose to sit for several hours or overnight for the chemical to finish working. This may be all you need if it works.

The reason I have made my comment is that you are getting a rich mix at startup. If all starts warm and cold are causing trouble it can be either my solution or the other Experts. The engine needs a warm signal to end the "cold start cycle" for later starts. But the difference is that the initial "cold" start ought to be fine if the "cold start" cycle was stuck ON. Leaking injectors would flood the engine between starts and on the initial "cold" start making my solution an accurate assessment of your problem.

I hope you find my idea useful and would like to know the outcome of your problem.

Car stalls while driving. Will start after about five minutes. Is not flooded. Doesn't usually do this until after it has been driven a bit. Does it more in warm weather. Check engine light sometimes...

I'd have fuel pressure tested. I had a 95' did same thing. Cold winter day, worked fine, as soon as it got warmer, or hot out, it would quit, and re-start 20 minutes later and go for a distance then die again. If I parked in the shade on a hot day, I'd get further before it quit for the first time. I started carrying a fuel pressure gauge with me. Cool in the morning my fuel pressure was up to spec @ 49-50psi. Once it got warm/hot out and it died, Hooked up gauge and it was at 2-5psi. Let it sit and cool off 20-30 minutes, pressure would jump back up and run good until fuel pump got hot again and then pressure dropped off and car quit. It sure sounds like the fuel pump, but the hard part will be getting the car to the shop at the right time, or they will need to let it run on the lot until it quits to confirm the pressure drop. One thing you can try is when car quits, have a can of WD-40 or quick start with you and a screwdriver. Loosen the clamp on the air intake hose where it connects to the front of the throttle body and pull it off. With vehicle off, turn throttle linkage so the plate opens up enough to spray WD-40 a second or 2 in the throttle body. Then try to start it. If it starts and runs momentarily, then you can be pretty sure it's fuel related and my guess is the pump needs replacement.

After replacing fuel pump it run when it wants to.

In our shop we have had the same problem before, it turned out to be a new defective fuel pump by Bosh, two bad ones in a row, try a ohm meter on the pump when it runs and when does not compare the numbers , if they are very different, try a new brand of pump.
