SOURCE: Escort check engine light - code = P0125

Sounds as if the car is not getting warm enough, which could mean that your thermostat is stuck in the open position. Try changing it. That should take care of the problem. Depending on which brand you get, the thermostat will most likely cost you between $8.00-$16.00.

Also, check the coolant level. Make sure its at a proper level. The Temperature Sensor could be bad as well.

SOURCE: Check engine light on. Code PO 125, insufficient coolant temp. for closed loop control. How urgent is repair needed?

It is not causing any damage and will likely not leave you stranded however it will be hitting you in the pocket book. A cooler running engine will require more fuel to keep running. Also if the engine temp does not get up to full operating temp the PCM may not enter closed loop which mean it will be running on preprogrammed conditions rather than on sensor data which will also use more fuel and may cause some performance issues. A new thermostat is the normal fix for this problem. $10-$20 for a stat and an hour to replace with basic hand tools and you should be good to go. If your not a do it yourselfer you should be able to get this done for under a couple hundred dollars maybe a little more if you need a coolant flush. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

1999 toyota siena p0125

The P0125 code means Coolant Temperature Insufficient for Closed Loop Operation. The P0125 "closed loop fuel control" thing is referring about your vehicle no longer being in "warm up" mode. In warm up mode you vehicle does not rely on sensors, it just follows default values for a specific length of time to warm up the engine, then it will adjust everything according to the sensors's inputs to the computer on the vehicle.
Take care
