Hi,if diesel you probably need to change the fuel filter and when done try an injector cleaner in the fuel tank every 3 or 4 full tanks.

SOURCE: 318ti M44 acceleration problem

Have someone handy to press the gas pedal for you after the engine has warmed up well; best if driven.

While you listen at the exhaust pipe, have your helper increase the revs slowly and note whether the exhaust note changes to a hiss, instead of the sound of an engine firing.

You may have a decayed catalytic convertor and when they come apart inside, they can clog mufflers and resonators (the second, smaller muffler).

I've had this happen on more than one car and when it happened on a Fiat Strada years ago, since the routing of the system was fairly straight and made of heavier gauge stainless steel, I fired two shots with a .357 magnum into the tailpipe.
Never had another problem with it.

SOURCE: Car petrol engine revolution surges.

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

SOURCE: when i drive my vauxhall

the first thing you must check, and probably the cheapest.

clean the map sensor with some cheap spray from radioshack or another shop where you can buy resistors diodes and things like that.

remove the map sensor from (nearly always the plastic part) from the air intake, spray it en blow it clean with a bicycle tyre pump

place it back again.

here is a nice link for you whit a movie about cleaning the map sensor;

Coolant leak, no signs on a vauxhall combo 2012+

Are you loosing this coolant overnight when the engine is cold or after you've been driving around and the engine is hot? If this overnight and a cold engine it has to be leaking out somewhere. If you have access to a garage, or somewhere that will stay dry, park there overnight and put a sheets of cardboard under the front of the vehicle. Make sure some sheets are far enough back to cover the area level with the driver's pedals. Check the cardboard the next morning at it will give you a rough idea where the leak is. After driving the vehicle and the coolant pipes are cool enough to touch use a rag or paper towels to make sure they are dry. Next morning with the engine COLD run your hand along the underside of all the radiator and coolant pipes you can reach. Your feeling for where they've gotten wet again overnight.
If it's happening when you've been driving around for a while it could be a 'pressure' leak. A coolant system is pressurised when it's running. Sometimes a small hole in a coolant hose can open and leak when the engine is hot and the hole will then close stopping the leak when the engine cools down. This often leaves 'stains' where the coolant has landed and evaporated. The stains will be a light colour the same as the colour of the coolant your using.
Another place where you can get bigger leaks is the water pump itself. These have a 'Weep' hole built into bottom of the pump which is designed as an escape valve and is a sign the water pump seal or the pump itself is failing.

I have a Vauxhall Combo Van that won't start. I have had this problem since the engine over-heated and cut out.

Buy a battery charger and charge the battery for 8 hours at 6 amps. Some boosters can be used as a charger if you connect them to the mains power and the vehicle. No engine will start if the battery is below 11 volts.

Also over heating the engine may have caused internal cylinder head damage (warping) and to spark plugs, pistons and valves. Pull the spark plugs and see if the cylinders are full of coolant.

This van has a history of overheating.

2104 Vauxhall Combo Van, Indicators work intermittently push stalk down or up and sometimes they work, if they dont work just moving the stalk slightly makes them work any ideas

This seems to suggest the actual Stalk is possibly the issue. Try replacing the switch assembly for a new one and see if that improves things. The switch sets are not normally very expensive.

You need to have a fault code test run on the transmission control module (TCM) as a first step to seeing what is going on here.

350z 2004 a/t with 120k miles 3 days ago my car overheated but reached just half of the temp gauge and i stopped the car and by the time it went back to normal i turned off the engine to cool down....

I don't think overheating of the engine has much to do with the transmission, either automatic or manual. If you have an automatic transmission, did you check the fluid? Sometimes low fluid stops certain gears from changing, as the torque converter doesn't have enough fluid to pressurize the servos to engage the clutches.

Vauxhall astra 1.6 sxi the car seems to run ok then losses power and cuts out iit

not said year could be the cam and crank sensor. also you not said what gear box you have auto or manual. auto its down to having a ecu problem with it being in limp mode. manual it will be the same but more manageable with your onwn gear changes.

Vauxhall combo duel fuel/engine management light comes on and i lose power

The engine has gone into limp mode because of a fault. When this happens the engine managment system shuts down some of the power to prevent damage to the engine and its components. Best bet is to take it to a garage and have them run a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes are showing.

My jaguar xjr8 year 2000 battery went dead started car went for short drive back in garege .next morning when started engine safe mode came on stopped car re started safe mode not on car drives superb when...

Yes that is normal. The ECM has no reason to let the engine rev higher than 3000 RPM when in Park, so it starts randomly cutting spark to different cylinders. That is why it shudders.
