You need to determine if the Cam Position sensor is bad.
You also need to test the MAP (Mass Airflow Position sensor is bad as well. If its backfiring then I would think it is the Cam position sensor. I can't tell you where it is because it's different on each model. Refer to a Clinton service manual for its location or call a dealer.
Wish I could give you more info.

SOURCE: I have an '88 ford f-150 302. I changed spark

I have seen this before working for Ford...it really came down to removing the exhaust pipe infront of the clogged catalytic convertor and road testing it to confirm that the convertor was clogged.. So if you can loosen the pipe in fron of the convertor so that the exhaust can escape with out going through a possibly clogged or melted convertor and if it runs with power thats great other wise diagnostics for the engine will be needed to be done.

1992 acura integra wont stay running

You need a scan tool hooked up and the fault codes read, suspect you have a crankshaft position sensor or igniter module issue going on here. Keep in mind that is just a guess so don't assume this is the problem get the testing done..

2002 kia sedona starts buts won't stay started

I have a 2002 and I had to replace the throtle body and it now perfect. The throtle position sensor went bad and you can not just replace that one part. You have to replace the complete throtle body and it is a dealer only part.

Car running problem

Ok Slow deceleration rev responce was part of the ECU software to keep the emissions down ,however if this has only just started you can try to reset the IAC valve ,the procedure is as follows.

Turn ignition key on ,unplug the IAC valve ,turn the key off ,replug the IAC valve. do this 3-4 times .Then start the engine while holding the gas pedal to 2000 rpm ,then slowley let the go of the gas pedal till the engine idles .

The IAC valve is located on the throtle body and has 4 wires to it.

Sometimes the throtle body needs to be cleaned and then reset.
