Blowing fuses I have put a new battery in my truck and it made my fuses fry instantly, I put new spark plug wires and spark plugs, cap, rotor, new battery and battery cables, as well as a new starter coil. Not sure where the short is or where to look, cause there has to be a short to make the fuses blow like that, Right?

Maybe a problem with fuse box? You hooked up battery correctly, correct? The problem would have to be after the fuse, correct? Not before. Of course I don't know which fuses are blowing?

Are you sure you have the correct voltage battery or have you got the terminals the right way as it sounds like you have cross wired it or put too much power through it.

check the ignition module, it might be bad. It's also possible the coil itself is bad. Hope this helps

SOURCE: 1983 F250 will crank but not start

look down the throat of the carb while engine is off, rotate the accelerator linkage and see if gas shoots into the throat, if it does the carb is getting its own fuel.

timing-look at the lower crank pully find your reference mark (small tab or pointer) and rotate the crank by hand until you line up 0 degrees with the pointer, open distributor cap see if it is pointing at the number 1 cylinder. if it pops and does not start, repeat this process, then unbolt distributor rotate the rotor 180 degrees reinstall and try again

There are a few things you can still check to locate the weak spark issue.

The first is the battery. you should have it tested. If it's showing a low voltage this may or may not be because the battery is bad. You need to consider the age of the battery first. & years is about the life of the average auto battery. If it's newer then that the alternator and or the wires could be the cause.

Inspect the battery cables and alternator wiring.
The cables and terminals should be cleaned and a little Vaseline applied to combat corrosion. All the wiring in the starting circuit should be inspected for loose or damaged connectors and corrosion. Also look for any wear or kinks in the wire covering. A thin spot on a wire can bleed off voltage and interrupt the signal. Get a can of Dielectric grease and spray the inside of all the connectors.

You replace most of the ignition components but how about the ignition control module. Although when the control module goes bad the symptom is usually no spark but it can affect the coil's performance resulting in weak spark also. Before replacing the control module disconnect all the terminals and check and clean any corrosion you find. Apply some
Dielectric grease spray and reconnect and check your spark.

More then likely following these steps will take care of the problem.
If after you have checked everything here and the problem persists please respond with all you checked and any results and I'll try and help narrow the trouble down.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 93 mustang lx turns over

I suggest you check for spark by taking a spark plug wire off one of the spark plugs and using one of your old plugs and crank it over and see, it wouldn't be the first time a module died on a Ford. Plus if you have a fuel pressure tester hook it up and check for proper pressure if no gauge just shoot a couple of squirts of engine start or carb spray in the intake if it starts something wrong with your fuel system recheck wiring conections if you don't hear fuel pump, turn on key from 3 to 5 seconds fuel pump should run to prime fuel rail then stop, if not check fuel system.

No spark at plugs

Do you mean you get spark from coil high tension wire to dizzy cap? If so, the only thing left is the cap and rotor and wires and the engine must have a good ground.

New plugs and wires one month ago, was running ok-ish. yesterday, started missing and dying at light. Put new cap and rotor and fuel filter on hoping to remedy, nope! Firing order is correct but two spaces...

sounds like you have jumped time, you need to check the valve timing, most likely need a timing chain. remove #1 spark plug and put your finger over the spark plug hole and have somone bump the engine over untill the compression blowes your finger off the spark plug hole, then set the timing mark to 0 degress ( it should be almost there when the compression blowes your finger from the hole ) then look at were the rotor is pointing it should be pointing at #1 spark plug wire if not check the timing chain.....good luck

let me know if there is any thing else you need.

CHECK FOR SPARK AT SPARK PLUGS.IF NO YOUR DISTRIBUTOR CAP + ROTOR OR COIL COULD BE BAD.MAKE SURE COIL GETTING POWER COULD BE BLOWED IGNITION FUSE.ALSO HAVE TIMING CHECKED IT COULD BE OFF.YOUR DISTRIBUTOR COULD HAVE TURNED A LITTLE THROW OFF TIMING.

Need to get my hands on a manual for a mazda b2600. Just put a new head gasket in it and the timing is all out.

take the spark plug out of the hole on the engine. the very front plug.
have someone bump the engine for you. take the cap off of the distributor, and when your friend bumps the engine watch the way the rotor is turning. i think its counterclock wise. but anyway, hold your finger over the spark plug hole and have the friend bump -bump- bump the key until the air pressure "Pssst" blows your finger out of the hole. thats the compression stroke of your engine. and right now its set to send a spark to that #1 piston.
SO look at the rotor, and pay attention to what direction the rotor is pointed. and when you put your distributor cap back on, your wire for #1 spark plug has to be pointed at the rotors tip, to get spark. so put cap back on, and then put #1 at the rotor tip, and remember what direction the rotor spins ? now put your spark plug wires on the cap to match the "firing order" The firing order is 1-3-4-2 with the cylinder closest to the front of the vehicle being #1 so if the rotor spins backwards . wherever the rotor tip is now ( since you bumped it to the compresson stroke ) on the #1 cylinder, you know where 1 is. now put #3 piston wire on the next plug, on the distributor then 4 , then 2. tighten everything, put the spark plug back in. and start your truck bro.

My 94 s10 hesitates when i take off i think its a fuel problem

well a new fuel filter should be pretty cheap and easy to install. Could always blow an air hose through it the opposite way if you really can't afford a new one (temp fix or test). Make sure to check the cap and rotor and be sure that they are not all corroded. Also check to make sure that the cap and rotor are both using the same kind of metal. Pull off a spark plug wire at the cap and if it's brass then the rotor should also be brass. It will have a much better connection. Check the ground wires coming off the battery. Check the spark plug wires and plugs for shorts. You might not be running on all cylinders. I know that this is a little broad but it should give you something to go on. Let me know how it goes.

I just changed all spark plugs and wires with boash platium +4 spark plugs and boash wires. the problem i'm having it's only firing on 5 not 6, i checked all wires and there in the right places. I have...

1. Double check the connections at BOTH ends of the wires- at the distributor and at the plug. 2. Make sure each spark plug boot has proper connection. 3. Double check the plugs to make sure that they are all gapped correctly and no contamination. 4. Hold each spark plug upright and make sure that the ceramic insulator near the tip isn't loose and sliding down and possibly covering the metal tip..(had this happen more than once) 5. Check for spark at each plug (be careful) 6. Open the distributor cap and double check all the exposed metal connectors are clean. 7. buy one extra plug and change out the suspect plug.

Want to check pickup assem in dist.

Fouled spark plug? Bad wire? Rotor / cap new? Check those things out, wear a thick rubber glove, take the wire off the non working plug, put a screwdriver next to the wire (while car is running) and see if a spark is made. If it is, your plug is bad. If no spark, replace wires. Still no spark? Change your rotor and cap. Still no spark? Ignition module. Following those steps will save you some green.

1987 GMC Jimmy Distributor cap and Rotor replacement

A diagram may not be needed as its a reasonably easy fix to do on your own.the distributor ca p will only fit on properly one way because at the base of the cap locaters can only fit the distributor if they line up.When doing the spark plug leads do them one at a time and if nessecary write or mark leads as 1,2 etc .The rotor can only fit on one way but put a mark on the distributor to show where the rotor was pointing when you took it off and if it still points there when the new one is fitted. When changing distributor cap and leads they have to go to the correct place.Pays to mark the outside of distributor cap where the locating bits are On the new and old one.Fit the new cap and rotor then take a spark plug lead and fit to new cap 1 at a time. You can tell by lining up the marks on the outside of the distributor cap when you hold them one on top of the other.Good luck
