2001 Mitsubishi Galant leaks water inside when running A/C. Dealership has said algae/mold grew inside and they chemically treated it. It blew black stuff all over the interior for two weeks afterward but didn't leak for a year. Next summer had same problem. It used to leak on the passenger side, then stopped on the passenger side and started on the drivers side. The dealer wants about $250.00 to flush it out again. I tried to put a wire into the drain hole on the fire wall from the engine compartment side. Very difficult to get to and didn't do any good. Carpet is trashed and floorboard is next. How can I get the water to drain outside? Same problem, same year/make of car. I have found the drain though. It is on the driver side above the gas epddle and to the right of the steering wheel knuckle at the firewill. It is a little black 90 degree elbow that exits the bottom of the AC unit and connects to the firewall. I have not had any success cleaning it out though. As mentioned before it is difficult to get to. I have read on another site that one solution is to take a short piece of garden hose and then attach it to a vacuum and then try to **** the clog out. I have not tried this yet though.

if the water is on the drivers side only ,you need a mechanic to put a gasket around the outside drain of the a/c this will stop the water from going back into the car.tell him to possibly use a material for windshield installation
Remove the trim and screws to get the radio to slide out about 4 inches. You will see a sticker on top with a number. Call the Mitsubishi dealership (ask for service) with that number and they can give you the radio code over the phone.
do not know about recalls(dont think so)but clear silicon around windscreen (wipe off excess)check inside door trims to make sure polythene skin is intact/stuck all round, and clean out air intake for heater matrix(is it full of leaves) thats for starters......
the probable cause is the drain for the ac coil is stopped up for an a/c leak inside.
if it smells like anti-freeze, the heater coil is leaking and may need to be replaced.
I had a problem with water also, so I took it to the dealer. It was a clogged drain on the passenger side. I think the one that ran from the windshield wiper area. It took about five minutes fo fix and my dealer did it for free. Not sure if your issue is the same.
