Smoke coming from the drivers side under hood

I was driving this car and the engine started running very rough lost accelleration. After stopping I noticed smoke coming from the drivers side under the hood near the fire wall. No warning lights or leaks what so ever. Acceleration problem was due to bad ignition mod a bad coil pack and 2 bad wires. Still don't know what was burning. Any suggestions?

The desciption above is exactly the experience I had yesterday. In my case however, even after stopping and restarting the engine, I have lost accelaration completely.

Sounds like you locked up a Caliber on the passenger side? Any pulling to passenger side or after driving for 2 to 3 min's feel the Center of the steel tim where the Lug nuts are on both drivers front and passenger front wheel both should be cool to warm if 1 is hotter then the other you have a stuck brake.

Coolant leak from radiator and white smoke coming from the hood.

Sounds like you have blown a head gasket. Do not run the engine like this or you will seize it up . anti freeze will freeze the pistons and you will need a new engine. Hope you have not ruined it now.
White smoke is a sign of water in the piston area.

2001 s10 did not overheat but lost power, coasted to stop, white smoke from tailpipe and engine. What could this be?

The white smoke is probably steam caused by coolant getting into the cylinder(s) either from a faulty head gasket, cracked cylinder head or cracked engine block. The loss of heat from the heater indicated that coolant was being lost..

Heard a grinding sound under hood. Car then died.

So does the a/c still work, maybe your compressor is bad? Top off your oil and run the engine and see if you can find out where the oil came from?
