SOURCE: 1999 car alarm goes off when the car is locked.

Not a solution, but details about the same problem with my car: I have a 99 Lincoln Continental and have noticed correlations between certain conditions and the frequency of the car alarm going off.

When it is hotter outside, the alarm goes off more frequently than when it is colder.

The more of a slant the car is parked on, the more often the alarm goes off. My boyfriend's driveway is on an incline and any time I park my car there, the alarm will go off every 30 seconds. If I move the car to the level street, it doesn't go off at all. This has been noticed on other slanted places I've attempted to park as well.

SOURCE: My 1999 Lincoln Continental Alarm

I had the same problem. My trunk sensor was the culprit. Disconnected it and it quit.

2008 vw beetle alarm keeps going off for no reason. Some are saying it's related to door sensor. Please elaborate?

factory alarm or after market add on, we can;'t see it
all alarms are just tiny CPU in a box programmed to be and alarm and as such any inputs failing causes and alarm.
doors. ajar switches. even hood,. hatches and trucks.
tampering,
shake switches ( I hate them)<< so do all neighbors.
some have sonic glass breakage sensors.
most cars (for sure this year) the factory alarm can seen as
DTC errors and be seen via the OBD2 port USA./ scan tool.
scan it or get the car serviced..
my car even shows the alarm cause in the CLuster display.

it went off For a reason, that is a fact
most alarms have a way to see logged errors.
if not I defeat the alarm, nobody ever listens to them or even LOOKs. ( everyone is sick of them)<< noise pollution.
good luck
PS read the service manual on the car, chapter ALARM
it has things to do , so read it.

My car alarm goes off intermittently

Assuming that you have the dealer installed PRESTIGE alarm unit,I would recommend decreasing the sensitivity of the motion sensor, or replacing the alarm control unit. This black plastic piece, located somewhere in the left kicker panel not only handles the sound/motion alarm, but the flashing alarm, the keyless power locks and the theft code for the radio. It is rare that these boxes fail, more than likely a rusty sensor at the doors, trunk or hood will be the culprit. Mine goes off when cats go under the car, and cant figure why. I am making a decision on fixing the alarm, or fixing the cats.

How to reset anti theft alarm on 2006 honda odyssey

To reset the anti-theft alarm, press the panic button. If that doesn't work then unlock the driver's side door with the key, hold the key in the unlock position for a few seconds, and that would the car recognize that the key is correct ad the alarm may stop running. Also, disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it may do the trick.
However, If that doesn't work, you may need to put in some manual work.
There are two sensors in place that run the alarm if they see something out of place-one is an ignition sensor, and the other is a door sensor. If the alarm goes off, there might be a genuine issue, or the alarm is giving false alerts owing to a malfunctioning sensor.
Here are some things you can do to fix the problem:
• Inspect the door sensors and the electrical connection of the power doors-they may have dust or moisture on them, which results in false alerts or they simply may have worn out.
• If that does not solve the problem, check the fuse numbered 13 or 5 (as per the manual), and ensure that it has not blown out

Alarm goes off for no reason. Message center shows hood is "ajar

Hi There isn`t much that can be done here, I would suggest you take the car to the dealership if the alarm is original, if it is after market then take it to any alarm shop, it needs to be reconfigured.
Good luck.

My car alarm keeps going off randomly on my megane 56..have no manual for it how can i turn the alarm off?

Finally solved the problem!
Hope this might help all those people out there with intermittent sounding of their car alarm.
Renault Megan Convertible.
Having taken the car back and forth to my Renault dealer and being told that it would now be OK, it still kept intermittently going off after ten minutes when locking the car. Problem never showed up when I took it to the garage, at least the RAC man that came out on a few occasions heard the problem, and just advised me to take back to the garage.
Never had a problem when the roof was down so the garage kept looking for a fault on the interior sensors.
To cut this story short , It turns out to be that when I lock the car and have forgotten to take out my mobile phone (switched on) which I keep in the centre consol. 99% of the time I remember to take it out, thus the reason for the intermittent problem and the phone is always taken out when I take the car to the garage. If the phone is left on the floor or on the seat no problem, only when in the centre console. I also find it only happens when I am using my Blackberry with full data & Bluetooth enabled. It does not do this with my older mobile phone without data & Bluetooth.

97 bmw 528i factory alarm goes off for no reason

disable the hood microswitch. just unplug it. That and the cabin sensor are the most probably reasons the alarm will go off.
Alarms are useless. Totally effin useless. So it goes off.....then whaddya going to do. Shoot someone? Call the police? or listen to it drain the battery over and over again.
But....you can't disable the alarm totally. The bmw engineers have tied it into the main computer. you can however disable the sensors one by one so it doesn't set off the alarm. Hood sensor....Hood sensor....that's the culprit.
