what engine?
fails hot engine, or cold engine and what engine of the many?
seems dont work in repairs.
ever do a tuneup ever?
sinces it sometimes runs we can check off bad engine. of the 4.
here they are. NO STARTS:
1: loss of 12vdc electric power to the EFI system. (dash lights dim?)
2: bad engine (skip this)
3: bad spark , seems is not an option here, we test all spark at all cylinders using a good new test spark plug.
Its a honda, and we check timing, too,, using , a timing light.
if the spark is good and timing is bad, then the timing belt slipped
if it slips more, the valve in the head bend. end of motor.
sometimes no starts, saves the engine, from itself. so i do spark 100% or better, on all honda's, i do a cylinder leak down test by hand
so i dont MAKE IT WORSE. (it's and interference engine)
4: bad fueling, flooding or starvation, readling spark plug tips tells me
which it is.
3.0L & 3.2L is Non-Interference , no engine stated. so ....
Sounds like an ignition or timing problem. Is the check engine light on ? This engine uses a direct ignition system which means each cylinder has a coil on top of the spark plug. It could be as simple as worn out spark plugs. If you had said the engine backfired and was hard to start, but no flooding, I would also look at low fuel pressure. But too much fuel causes flooding. A faulty throttle position sensor could cause all of your symptoms, but it should set a trouble code and turn on the check engine light.
I'm syill working on the problem but I swapped the throttle bore assemby , put new cap & rotor amd double checked the timeing (Both belt & distributer with timing light) and engine still floods,. Wm going th check for kinked return hose next.
Check Spark and Fuel, one is missing. If both are there then floor the gas padle and try again, donot pump gas as the spark plugs get flooded with gas and wont fire up the engine.
Does it sound like its spinning or turning faster than normal? If so could just be flooded. Try cranking engine with excellerator 3/4 way down at 10 sec intervals with 2 min brake in between. These cars have always seemed to flood easy. And the air intake system is so enclosed it cant really dry out easy. I try that 3-4 times if it does seem like its trying to start or getting better than Id say tow to mechanic. Possible coil problems too? But seen alot of them flood out.
