No power to anything

Lost the key to a 1995 chevy s10 went to chevy to have them re cut a key but still would not work and steering column was locked up so decided to put new ignition in it and there is no power what so ever when you turn the key. need help!

REMOVE THE BATTERY AND PLATE IT SETS ON
THERE IS A BOX MOUNTED ON FRONT,OPEN IT YOU WILL FIND A FUSE FROM BATTERY TO FUSE BOX.REPLACE IT.

Sounds to me the rod from key switch to starter/ign switch is not where it should be. it probably slipped out when you had the key switch out. no power to anything - 23075457-awhy2tj3hoeu5futbuxdq4rw-3-0.png

you need to replace the electrical part of switch?If os it is down on column under dash will be two bolts holding on with the dimmer switch also

I cant get the key out or lock steering column and the automatic transmission shift lever locks up in park.
Now if I take the battery off every thing works fine.
This sure seems like a reset problem.I run the car by not having it in the locked column position and get the shifter to work by putting a key in the hole furnished
by chevy to bypass shift lock. thank you

ur gear shift has a little plastic bar on gear shift and it has crack on the side u cant see have it changed out and both of ur problems will be solved at same time.

I lost the key to my husbands truck,how do you replace an inigation switch on 1995 Chevrolet Truck

  1. Remove the column shroud halves.
  2. Remove the column-to-dash attaching bolts and slowly lower the steering column, making sure that it is supported.
  3. Remove the multi function switch if necessary.
  4. Remove the key alarm switch, if equipped by gently prying the alarm switch retaining clip with a small screwdriver. Rotate the alarm switch 1?4 in. turn and remove. WARNING
    Extreme care is necessary to prevent damage to the collapsible column.
  5. Make sure that the switch is in the Lock position. If the lock cylinder is out, pull the switch rod up to the stop, then go down one detent.
  6. Disconnect the actuating rod from the switch.
  7. Remove the two screws and the switch. To install:
  8. Before installation, make sure the switch is in the Lock position.
  9. Attach the actuating rod to the switch.
  10. Install the switch using the original screws. Tighten the screws to 12 inch. lbs. (1.4 Nm).
  11. Install the key alarm switch, if equipped . Make sure the retaining clip is parallel to the lock cylinder. Rotate the alarm switch 1?4 in. turn until locked in place.
  12. Install the multi function switch if removed. CAUTION
    Use of screws that are too long could prevent the column from collapsing on impact.
  13. Replace the column. Tighten the nuts to 22 ft. lbs. (29 Nm); the bolts to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).

turn wheel so tires are straight-turn key to lock remove key -disconnect neg term at battery- remove air bag fuse in panel by drivers door-remove left side dash knee panel- unplug the connector position assurance(cpa) and yellow 2 way connector at base of steer/column--un lock steer/wheel and turn 90 deg --using a screw driver at the back of s/w is an opening push screw driver in opening releasing clip-turn wheel 180 deg other way and do same -tilt air bag up to access wiring connector disconnect inflator module and cpa clip

Lost key to 1998 Chevy S10 Need to remove&replace tumbler w/o key
With the title and an insurance card your dealer can cut a new key by the VIN if you have never replaced the lock cylinder before. If not it will be remove the column covers, drill out the lock and try not to damage the lock housing. Good Luck

if it was me i would go to a good salvage yard and see if they have one the same color as my and then take it to a locksmith and have my new steering wheel rekey to work with my key i have now and if you have a hard time finding one here is a place that sells only GM-parts Schram auto & truck parts number is 1800-292-1032
