A jeep lumina?
wrong forum but that is ok, seems to be common here.
what wont shift.
A/T or M/T auto or stick? tranny????
what does will not , mean?
I cant move the shift lever
i cant shift, to 2nd
IT (autobox ) will not shift ever, or slips or flares. or?
if its and A/T autotranny, tell me what it does right and wrong
here is an example.
i start engine.
i shift to drive car dont move, in any gear
i see RPM race high with right foot over 3000 RPM.
tranny failure. (slips)
or RPM stays near 1500, and engine sounds loaded,
and i find the parking brake stuck on, or the brakes are full of ice
and stuck fast.

1999 chevy lumina doesn't shift into overdrive, why?

If it won't go into overdrive a speed sensor within the transmission may not be sending the shift signal to the transmission. Check fluid levels to make sure that's not causing the problem. Also, check that the fluid is red color and clean.

Transmission probably needs to be serviced at a reputable shop if you want this problem fixed.

Shift solenoid

Shift solenoids are internal within the drivers side side cover of the transmission. Not something easily done with out a lift. Not impossible but certainly not easily accessed.

2000 chevy lumina

Check the signal from the Vehicle Speed Sensor with a scan tool, that is the most likely cause.

I have a 2000 chevy lumina problem

try a different brand sensor if your not using GM. Make sure your using good quality parts and check that the wire that plugs into the sensor is in good shape (no corroded pins in the plug, has low to no electrical resistance)
