Hold light flashing on dash. compression there is none help

I own a 99 KIA Sportage 4WD 4DR and my hold light is flashing on the dash now. The nearest dealership is an hour away and I don't know if I should drive it there like it is or how can I get the light to go off? my hold button comes on and goes off when it wants. we havce did the battery thing few times and shut it off and many other things but it doesnt do what we want when we want it to. does anyone know what would make my car 99 kia sportage not have any compression? we replaced the timing belt head gasket intake gasket valve seals and spark plugs. is there anyone that could please help me. thank you much

Most auto parts stores Advance/ Autozone etc will get the diagnostics codes from cars computer and tell you why the light is on and what the problem is if there is a problem.

Where I live most car parts chain stores will read your code for free. I would find out the code it will help in the search for the issue.

Hold light linking on dash on kia sportage

I am having the same problem on my 2003 kia sportage. It went off 2 weeks ago and then I got it to turn off by unplugging the battery over night but now it came back on. let me know if you get a solution that works please

are u sure the button isn't pushed on the side of shifter...If its flashing i am not sure. when i go out 4x4ing mine flashes then a few days later it goes out....

HOLD keeps coming on in my 99 kia sportage what does that mean

Look on the shifter lever,just bellow the push button. There is another push button there. That's the one you press or depress to keep the transmission on 3rd. gear. Just press it again and the hold light should come off.

What is the hold light mean?

Assuming a first generation Sportage, sounds like a problem with the vehicle speed sensor on the back of the transfer case (4wd) or transmission extension housing (2wd).

Could be as simple as a corroded/broken wire, through to a malfunction in the sensor. Take it to Autozone and get the codes read and let us know what they are (to be absoluteluy sure...).
