If you let it warm up first it should not run ruff .Its the car staying in low gear to warm up the catalytic converter faster so that it can cut the amount of pollution that the is car producing .For the clean-air laws.

Sounds like it might be leaking intake manifold gaskets. They leak when cold but as the engine warms up they swell and seal up. This is common with rubber intake manifold gaskets.

False engine code on startup

Hi,

please take your car to your local autozone and allow them to run a free diagnostic test on the car to see if the same error comes up on their end. If so, then the error is real and they can advise you on the next steps to take to overcome it.

Thank you.

What would cause my 05 6.0 power stroke to not start when cold?but after initial start in morning it starts fine all day long.

Glow plugs. Check the connection and activation of the glow plugs at morning startup. Once it's warmed, their not needed and it will start easily all day. 6.0s and 7.3s are known for this problem. I replaced many of them. You have to pull the valve covers to replace them, their underneath the valve covers. Just unscrew them from the head, screw and tighten the replacements, connect the wires and put the covers back on. With new gaskets of course.

Z71 will not idle at startup

hate to say it but this model is known for fuel pump issues. I had a '99 4X4 and had similar problems, replaced the fuel pump and all was good. If you do this job yourself I recommend pulling the bed off over dropping the tank. Though the whole repair is a pain in the *** this actually the easiest.

BMW 528I smokes on start up

telemachas is totally correct with this type of car, also when pulling one of these engines apart i also found a lot of wear on the piston ring groves ,although rings were good the pistons themselves needed renewing .This would cause oil to be pumped into combustion chambers on initial start up.Problem was the cost of parts was more than the car was worth so customer bought another car as this one had been inported from germany and was so rusty as well it was just a scrapper and worst of all it had no air con
