You should have the OBD codes checked. This will determine the exact fault. The ESP light will sometimes come on if there is a problem with the ABS or with the steering angle sensor.

I looked the information up as you listed it and for a sedan and the yaw sensor is located under the center console assembly. Is mounted within a couple of brackets in the console. Click the link below to enlarge IMAGE.

It is there for a reason and if you think that you can control a skid situation then do so. But a dealer spare will be costly so I would look around for an after market unit or one from the Toyota wreckers and have it fitted . It might just save your life.

SERVICE STABILITRAK is part of the ABS control module . EBCM - electronic brake control module . Could be a sensor problem , EBCM , yaw sensor an a couple other ones .
Vehicle Stability Enhancement System (VSES)
The vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) adds an additional level of vehicle control to the electronic brake control module (EBCM).
Yaw rate is the rate of rotation about the vehicle's vertical axis. The lateral accelerometer measures the sideways acceleration of the vehicle. The VSES is activated when the EBCM determines that the desired yaw rate and lateral forces do not match the actual attitude of the vehicle.
The desired attitude of the vehicle are calculated from the following inputs:

The position of the steering wheel

The speed of the vehicle

?€¢
The lateral, or sideways acceleration of the vehicle

Yaw rate of the vehicle

Master cylinder brake pressure

The difference between the desired yaw rate and the actual yaw rate is the yaw rate error, which is a measurement of oversteer or understeer. If the yaw rate error becomes too large, the EBCM attempts to correct the vehicle's yaw motion by applying differential braking to the appropriate wheel. The amount of differential braking applied to the left or right front wheel is based on both the yaw rate error and side slip rate error.
The VSES activations generally occur during aggressive driving, in turns, or on poor road conditions, without much use of the accelerator pedal. When braking during VSES activation, the pedal pulsations feel different than the ABS pedal pulsations. The brake pedal pulsates at a higher frequency during VSES activation.

WHAT IS YAW RATE SENSOR? WHERE IS

The yaw rate sensor measures the relative vehicle motion about the vertical axis through its center of gravity. It is usually located inside the Sensor Cluster located in the middle of the vehicle somewhere , under the console .
The sensor cluster (also called the accelerometer) consists of the yaw rate sensor, roll rate sensor (if equipped with roll stability control), lateral accelerometer and longitudinal accelerometer. The lateral accelerometer measures the acceleration which corresponds to the force involved when the vehicle slides sideways. This acceleration has 2 forms. The first is the centrifugal acceleration which is generated when the vehicle travels around in a circle. The second is the acceleration due to gravity. On level ground there is no contribution from this acceleration. However, if the vehicle is parked sideways on a bank or incline, the sensor measures some lateral acceleration due to gravity even though the vehicle is not moving.

Refer to ABS Description and Operation in Antilock Brake System ! You need to take it an have DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes read ! That will point you to a diagnostic path !

The Stability System is part of the anti lock brakes ! The place to start is
Diagnostic Starting Point - Antilock Brake System
Begin the system diagnosis with Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle .The Diagnostic System Check will provide the following information:

The identification of the control modules which command the system

?€¢
The ability of the control modules to communicate through the serial data circuit

?€¢
The identification of any stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and their status

The use of the Diagnostic System Check will identify the correct procedure for diagnosing the system and where the procedure is located.
This Is going to be Greek to you probably ! This is where a up scale scan tool is needed , or a factory one ! Your going to need to have vehicle scanned for DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes ! Is the ABS light on as well ?

This is a problem you should take to the dealer or a ASE certified repair shop ! Or you can try to reset the system by disconnecting the battery cables an touching the cable ends together for 60 seconds ! But if there is a real fault in the system ( bad sensor ) The light will come back on ! Maybe not right away ! A couple of days or weeks etc....

Service Stability System Message The message center displays the service stability system message when any one of many VSES-disabling DTCs is set. The EBCM sends a serial data message to the IPC requesting this display.
It means there is a problem an till you get it fixed the stability control system is disabled ! ( EBCM ) electronic brake control module Has detected a problem an set a DTC - diagnostic trouble code in it's memory an had the message displayed !

Co196 yaw rate sensor re accruing problem

Good day and welcome to Fixya!
Yes it's considerable to reprogram the ebcm. But before you do that, try to remove the positive battery connector and leave it for atleast 5mins. then put it back on. Try to scan it again. If same issue occurs then I strongly suggest the reprogram.
