The code you provided "should" has P1860 warming appear on the scanner.

P1860 + P0073 are the codes for Torque Converter Clutch solenoid problem.
Top off the ATF to max.
Drive the car for 15 minutes and re-scan.

Make sure you get all the codes.

Testimonial: "NO THE ONLY CODE FOR THE TCC IS THE TCC 0073 i HAD A CODE OF PZ 2056 AND PC 1652 BUT i REPLACED TWO FUSES AND THE WENT AWAY , NOW THE 0073 IS THE ONLY CODE LEFT"

    If the filter and ATF is over 2 years old then drop the pan and replace filter and fluid. If the code still come back then replace the converter.

SOURCE: tcc solenoid code

This is a transmission issue, TCC is Torque Converter Control, the solenoid is inside the trans, unless you are a well versed technician I would leave this to the transmission experts, you might try premium assistance for someone that can provide more detailed step by step repair procedures if you are determined to do the repair yourself.

SOURCE: 2002 Sunfire TCC Solenoid replacement

hi..the transaxle converter clutch . tcc. uses a solenoid -operated valve located in the automatic transaxle to mechanically couple the engine flywheel to the output shaft of the transmission through the torque converter.that reduces the slippage loss in the converter.reducing emissions.but check the vss first.which is called the vehicle speed sensor.they both work together .if the vss is not working right it wont call on the tcc.
check this out..
thank u..

SOURCE: p1744 enginge code tcc solenoid circuit

DTC P1744 is "TCC - Excessive Slip Detected During Full TCC Engagement". Which means that the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) is disengaged or the EPC pressure is at the minimum.

The most likely cause is a sticking or bad TCC solenoid inside the transmission. You can check the connector at the transmission to make sure it is clean and tight and that it is not damaged in any way.

If the TCC and wiring is okay, then pressure testing of the transmission will need to be done.

A new torque converter from Ford is about $265.00 and about 4 hours labor. Throw in a $40.00 TCC solenoid and I don't think it'll be more than $700.00 at worst.

If the pressure test is good then it's just going to be the $40.00 tcc solenoid and the cost of the transmission oil and filter changed which should be around $150.00

Good luck and hope it's just a loose wire harness to the solenoid which would cost $0.00 and just your time to locate the break in the wire. The other thing to, is to add a transmission fluid additive that would restore the clutch pack in the transmission and Torque Converter.

Testimonial: "thanks a lot very helpful and detailed explanation"

Dashboard code puller on a 2004 Caddy Deville: U 1016, B 1860 and P0741 codes. Changed oil and exchanged trans fluid. I drove about 120 miles the service light came back on. Code P 0741 can back.

What year ?
If the PCM detects high torque converter slip when the TCC is commanded ON, then DTC P0741 sets. DTC P0741 is a type B DTC.
The powertrain control module (PCM) controls the torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid valve pulse width modulation (PWM). The solenoid controls the hydraulic fluid for TCC apply and release. When the TCC is applied, the engine is coupled directly to the transmission through the TCC. The TCC slip speed should be near 0.
Diagnostic Aids
• Inspect the transmission fluid level.
• The transmission may be in hot mode. Inspect the transmission fluid lines to the radiator. The lines may be pinched, plugged or twisted.

Do you own a professional or factory scan tool ?
Install a scan tool.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Important: Before clearing the DTC, use the scan tool in order to record the Freeze Frame and Failure Records. Using the Clear Info function erases the Freeze Frame and Failure Records from the powertrain control module (PCM).
Record the DTC Freeze Frame and Failure Records.
Clear the DTC.
Drive the vehicle at 72 km/h (45 mph).
Using the scan tool, command the torque converter clutch (TCC) pulse width modulation (PWM) solenoid valve ON.
Operate the vehicle under the following conditions:
• The transmission fluid temperature (TFT) is 20-133°C (68-271°F).
• The engine torque is 43-215 N·m (32-159 lb ft).
• Drive the vehicle in D4 with a throttle position (TP) angle of 10-50 %.
• Ensure that the TCC applies for more than 5 seconds.
Monitor the TCC slip speed.
During TCC application, is the slip speed within the specified parameters?

Dashboard message - service engine soon ?? my local service station said it said - torque converter

That is located in the transmission and can be very expensive to repair/replace - Do NOT take to Amco! Did he also tell you the exact electronic code? Uusally, the code will say more than just torque converter.

Have you noticed any hesitation when you are starting to move; in reverse on on a hill - any noticeable slipping?

Where is the Transmission Solenoid Located for 2001 cadillac deville, inside or outside transmission. i have a transmission trouble code of p0741. Transmission runs good, it shifts normal as always. i...

The TCC solenoid is located inside the transmission. Replacing the solenoid usually does not fix the problem when it comes to a P0741 code. It is usually due to debris getting caught in the TCC regulator valve or the tubine shaft seals being worn out. This usually results in a transmission overhaul.

Code p0741 96 cadillac deville. tcc stuck off been drive in 3rd instead is this safe or sould I fix the torque converter

Your problem is probably the solonoid valve in the transmission valve body area. (The trans pan has to be removed) Replace the valve asm. and while it's apart, do a trans. filter change too.

Error codes

Her is the definition and a list of possiable causes.

Code P1740-Torque converter clutch did not lock up when the PCM sent the command. Enabling conditions: No engine or transmissions codes are present, vehicle speed was under 70 MPH, TPS was under 33% open. When the PCM commanded the torque converter to lock, no change was detected in engine speed. Blocking action: This code can block the following monitors: none.
Testing: Check torque converter solenoid for proper operation.
P1740 TCC O/D SOL PERFORMANCE (GAS)
Theory of Operation
The Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Solenoid is used to engage the TCC which improves fuel economy.
When Monitored
The Torque Convertor Clutch (TCC) and Overdrive Clutch (OD) will be tested each time the PCM requests TCC engagement in 3rd gear and OD.
Set Condition
The DTC will set if the expected RPM drop is not achieved while attempting to engage TCC or OD. This indicates a malfunctioning torque convertor or overdrive clutch.
Possible Causes
* ENGINE DTCS PRESENT
* TRANSMISSION DTCS PRESENT
* TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE TOO COLD
* OIL PAN CONTAINS EXCESSIVE DEBRIS
* 3-4 SHIFT SOLENOID
* SHAFT OR SEAL DAMAGE
* TCC SOLENOID
* TORQUE CONVERTER
