My 2003 ford focus just died on me sitting at a red light. I pushed it into a gas station tried to start it 2 or 3 times it would not start. So I then tried giving it gas while trying to turn it over, it then started and i was able to put it in reverse backed out of my stall, and when i went to put it into drive it just died again.
Sounds like the fuel filter is clogging up. not enough fuel getting to engine. God-Bless,
Change your fuel filter. If that doesn't work check fuel pressure.
Hi there.
see if this link helps you out.
2003 ford focus died Google Search
SOURCE: engine overheated, now car won't start without giving it gas
Some cars cut off as a fail safe to overheating especially on newer cars. The computer controls the fans and if they are not working the computer is probably telling the car to shut off. Have you replaced the motors already, if not, this is what's happening. Once you replace the motors it should run fine. I wouldn't suggest driving it too much with this problem as it may affect the computer by giving it false info.
SOURCE: oil pressure light on and wont start
Well I had the same problem and wow was I surprised man. I have a code machine that plugs into my car and tells me what wrong with it then I fix it. It read that I had a misfire #1 so that means my spark plug is dirty or something like that. When I took off the spark plug it was smashed in that was a good sign.. I called a mechanic friend of mine and he said that my head and piston were damaged but would not really know unless he took it apart. What he said was true and cost me a great deal of money..!!!! Now searching the web I have found that there many jeep liberty with the same problem just different spark plug locations so I wonder if Jeep knows of this issue but will not acknowledge it.. If you need more information please email me at [email protected]

it sounds like an idle air motor, located on the top of the intake

2 solutions: first, ignition control module is getting hot and shutting car down. 2nd; you didn't mention your dash(service soon) lights were on.

You said the fuel filter was pretty clogged up. It's sounds like a bad case of EGS(ethanol gas syndrome). The ethanol;being a corn deritive;acts like corn liquor(which is what is is), and turns the fuel to goop, and adds large amounts of water through out all the systems.

It clogs up the fuel lines, the injectors, and ruins fuel pumps. It also puts heavy carbon on egr valves, int. and exh. valves, and can ruin oxy sensors, and catalytic converters.

Let's try the cheapest way first:Buy a can of SEAFOAM and Berkline 2+2 at your parts store. Take out the oxy sensor(s) and clean the ends using the 2+2 and re-install.
Then change out the fuel filter again. Pour the SF into a tank of PREMIUM(only) gas. Change the pcv valve. Then start vehicle and let idle for 3-5 min(even if you have to rev it up to do it to get the SF flowing through the system), and then drive it 10 hard miles.

Replace that fuel filter, and then let it idle some more. Your car sounds like it is really messed up bad. Unless you take it to a garage that has a fuel system cleaner machine, this is the best way to do it.

After this, add SF every 3-5000 miles to your tank. It will prevent this from happening again. Also; to be on the safe side. Have a PSI check on your fuel pump. This goop could have burnt it up. I hope this helps.
SOURCE: car keeps stalling when brakes applied, then starts but turns off
I dont know why, but one time my truck was low on trans fluid and after I topped it off, it didnt stall anymore when put into gear. as fro the odometer i dont know, it may have to go out completely before any diagnosis can be done.
