Does ford have a factory installed harness for trailer lights and where would it be on a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport?

I can only assume your not the orignal owner/purchaser of this '99 Explorer, so im gonna say no if it doesnt have a factory trailer hitch and towing package. did you have an after market hitch installed on this truck? if not, please dont tell me you plan to use the "cheesy" factory drilled hole in the rear bumper (near/below the license plate area)? BAD IDEA if thats the case, the bumper brackets cant handle much of a load at all, bad idea for them to even put that stupid hole there to begin with. Also, if you see there isnt a "factory" harness, you can go to your local auto parts store and pick 1 up designed specifically for that vehicle within a range of model years sharing that same platform, eg. 1997-2001 model years may all use the same harness set. let me know how it turns out and if this even helped you in any way. Good luck.

Looking for ford explorer wiring harnesses mainly turn signals switches

You will need the factory wiring diagrams. We do not have them due to copyrighting. You can buy the factory wiring booklet HERE, a must have for doing your own electrical trouble shooting and worth every penny.

1998 Ford Explorer has factory trailer wiring ... won't light the left turn signal light on trailer or left brake light ... bulbs are good, all lights work when vehicle lights are on except the left...

Use this as a guide and a 12 volt test light, or multimeter to see if power at proper terminal from truck. If power there, then connection at trailer plug, or wiring from there to tail lights on trailer is faulty.motor1258_22.jpg

I am looking for the wire under the rear of my 99 explorer to hook up the wiring harness for trailer or boat. HELP

From the factory there is an unused plug in the left brake light harness. You can get a tow light cable from Ford that's JUST for that, and its a 4 flat plug on the end. I 'found' mine in the compartment on the left where the jack is. Just peek in there with a light. It was still in the package. Otherwise call Ford, the thing plugs in and you route it down and there's a bracket to hold part of it under the bumper to an existing screw location.

Pass. side trailer turn and brake lights out 1999 ford explorer

if your vehicle lights are working all the fuses will be good. follow the cable from the towing socket on your vehicle , it will most likely go behind one of the rear lights to connect into your cars system,
check your tester where the cables join and you should find the problem. hope this helps.

Airbag light flashes 3 times then 6 times then stays on

This is for the driver's side air bag.
This may be due to a high resistance or poor connections in the side air bag (SAB) wiring harness circuits or restraints control module. This condition may occur on vehicles equipped with, or without, side air bags.
Ford has a Technical Service Bulletin out on this no. 03-24-1.
To service, install an overlay harness which incorporates soldered terminals and tin wiring. Refer to the service procedure for direction on which side air bag kit to order. Installation instructions and illustrations are included in the kit.
FOR VEHICLES WITHOUT THE (SAB), FOURTH DIGIT OF VIN IS "Y" OR "Z" :
  1. Install a new Non-SAB wire harness kit 3L2Z-14B455-AB. Refer to the installation instruction sheet included in the kit.
FOR VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH (SAB), FOURTH DIGIT OF VIN IS "C" OR "D" :
  1. Install the appropriate harnesses as indicated below. Refer to the installation instruction sheet included in the kit.

My 2001 ford explorer dashboard and tail light went out and keep blowing all fuses that are used

sounds like a wire is touching a ground. famus for doing it at the parking lights. try to see if you find a bare live wire in the trailer harness if you have one.
