Check the engine temperature sensor, and the cooling fan switch, they both control the fan operation. One or both are not working.

SOURCE: The radiator cooling fan is not working. Upon

assuming fuse and relay are good..no fan should be running when the engine is cool/cold, the only time the fan should be running when it reach over operation temperature which then the fan kick on to bring the temperature back down to it operation temperature. both fan work in sync with one another, addition cooling is needed when the ac is running. when the last time have you replace thermostat and Thermos sensor/switch. I would replace both unit if you have not done so. The thermos/switch will turn the fan on when it reach certain temperature and cut off when it sense the temperature drop in the engine.

Testimonial: "Very good advice. I replaced the cooling fan myself and saved a lot of money. Everything is seems to be working. Thanks."

SOURCE: My radiator cooling fan is always running once the car heats up.

Yes, I would suspect the Thermal Relay is defective. Replace it.

SOURCE: No heat coming out fan blows but no heat

you could have air trapeed in the cooling system. If so, go to shop with evac/fill equipment to burp the air.

ALso, feel the heater hose going into the heater core and out of the heater core. They should be hot. They are about 1 inch round and go into the firewall behind the engine.

Is the engine temperature normal? If not, replace the thermostat.

I assume you have electronic system since you said you push a button. Perform this test and get codes

  1. If inspection reveals obvious concern(s) that can be readily identified, service as required. If the concern(s) remains after the inspection, perform the following EATC On-Board Diagnostic:
  1. NOTE: If sent to this section from Section 18-04, perform the EATC On-Board Diagnostic, record any or all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

    • The EATC On-Board Diagnostic will detect concerns in the system control functions found during the On-Board Diagnostic and will display (DTCs) in addition to intermittent (DTCs) for concerns that occur during system operation. The vehicle interior temperature should be between 16° and 27°C (60° F and 80° ) F when performing the On-Board Diagnostic. If the temperatures are not within the specified ranges, false in-car temperature sensor error codes will be displayed. Record all error codes displayed during the test.
    • If any (DTCs)appear during the On-Board Diagnostic, follow the diagnostics procedure given under ACTION for each DTC given.
    • If a condition exists but no (DTCs) appear during the On-Board Diagnostic, refer to the Symptom Chart Condition: EATC System Inoperative, Intermittent or Improper Operation .
    • The On-Board Diagnostic can be initiated at any time with any resulting DTCs displayed. Normal operation of the system stops when the On-Board Diagnostic is activated.
    • To enter the On-Board Diagnostic, press the OFF and FLOOR buttons simultaneously and then press the AUTOMATIC button within two seconds. The display will show a pulse tracer going around the center of the display window. The test may run as long as 30 seconds.
    • To exit On-Board Diagnostic and retain DTCs, push the blue (cooler) button. The control will exit On-Board Diagnostic, retain all DTCs and then turn OFF (display blank).
    • To exit On-Board Diagnostic and clear all DTCs, press Defrost button. The vacuum fluorescent display window will show 000 and all function symbols for one second. Then, the EATC Control will turn OFF (display blank) and all DTCs will be cleared.
The On-Board Diagnostic should be deactivated before powering the system down (system turned OFF). Intermittent DTCs will be deleted after 80 ignition switch ON cycles after the intermittent condition occurs.

When I turn the engine off the engine cooling fan stays on and does not shut off

depending on the engine temperature the fan is supposed to remain on after you turn the engine off, until the engine reaches a preset cooler temperature. when it reaches cooler temperature usually within 5 minutes or so it should cut off... if you cut it off and it is running 30 minutes later.. then there is a problem with the fan relay or temperature sending unit.

No heat in 2002 jaguar stype. replaced theromstat earlier in the summer. also cooling fan continues to run 3-5 minutes after car is turned off.

the cooling fan running for a short time after turning off is normal.as far as the NO HEAT is concerned have the topmost hot hose clip undone and vent any airlock you may have.(pref a hose that is attached to the heater inside the engine bay).

1999 Hyndai Accent 1500 cc high cooling water temp.

over heating while stopped usually indicates that the radiator fan is not coming on ...when the engine is running hot you should be able to hear the fan running .. if it doesnt then suspect the thermal switch mounted on the radiator .. make sure the fan turns freely .. the fan is not needed when the car is moving so it wont heat up as long as you are driving .. but will do so when stopped if thats the trouble .. sometimes the thermal switch operates a relay that in turn operates the fan ..that could also cause the trouble ..

Why does the fan keep running on 2005 jetta after turning off

You are talking about the thermo electric cooling fan, its operation is independent of the car's electical system. It is switched on and off by the engine temperature. When you park, the engine heat soaks upward to heat the thermostat turning the fan on. It will run until the engine cools down and the thermostat switches it off. Quite normal operation.

1995 cutlass supreme. There are two cooling fans.

it will come on but only when the engine is very hot and the first fan cant cool it down that fast,, its turned on by a difrent heat censor so the engine needs to be realy hot to set the second fan running and it may even then only run for 30 seconds till the engine temp drops off,,, as long as the car is running in the normal heat range dont worry about it,,, if its cooking way up in the red,,,,,now worry about it,,fast too,,

Grand Am 4 cyl. Car - Fan does not turn on

there is no computer to turn the fan on. it works on a thermal switch. so you have a relay to the fan. when the temp sensor gets hot it connects the circuit to the relay and then the fan is on. vary simple. and it works when the car is still hot but the key has been turned off till the switch cools off or some have a timer so it does not run for ever. so good guess is the temp sensor for the fan could be bad if the fan is working.
