SOURCE: removing rear light assembly on honda odyssey 2006

Yes, there is a "spear point" plastic clip that is still engaged into a socket type holder in the front outboard portion of the tail lamp assembly. Pry gently with a tape wrapped screwdriver at the front outboard corner of the assembly and the clip will release. You will then be able to see how the clip works and will be able to align and engage it first when replacing the tail lamp assembly.

SOURCE: Transmission fluid/filter change in 2000 Honda Odyssey

I would not recommend using Dexron III. Honda Odysseys are prone to transmission problems. A drain and fill with Genuine Honda Fluid is Recommended. The drain plug can be removed with a 3/8 ratchet at the bottom of the trans. The fill hole is at the top of the trans. You remove it with a socket on a long extension. The capacity is close to 3 quarts

SOURCE: 2005 Honda Odyssey brake light housing removal

Yes, there is a spear point style clip that is holding the assembly. Wrap a flat blade screwdriver with some masking tape (prevents paint scratches) and pry between the forward outboard corner of the brake light housing and the car body. You want to pry the assembly rearward.

How to take transmission out

It is a pretty involving process to remove and replace the transmission on a Honda Odyssey and not recommended for the home DIY mechanic. Without a vehicle hoist or lift, it is a daunting task to undertake. This will be a brief description of what may need to be removed. The engine and transmission sits on a sub frame cradle. The engine will need to be held and supported by an engine support bar. The sub frame is then unbolted from the bottom. All things necessary must be removed before the sub frame can come out. For example, the rack and pinion bolts, sway bar, lower front ball joints, front and rear engine mounts, and any and all brackets and hard lines. After the sub frame is completely out, the flywheel bolts will have to be removed from the transmission. The cv-axles will have to be removed along with the transmission fluids being drained. Then the harness/connectors disconnected from the transmission, and then the bolts to the engine and bolts for the transmission mount. With a floorjack, the transmission can then be dropped out from underneath. Installation is the reversal.

How to changeengines on a 1995 Honda odyssey

try a chiltons manual. they have all the procedures you should need to remove and replace the engine, as well as step by step instructions to rebuild or repair certain parts of it if needed. the most important thing to remember is where each part you remove goes, the bolts that were used (group each set in a bag to help you) and try to take lots of pictures from lots of angles to help you remember part locations. this vehicle may require you to possibly remove the transmission with the engine, due to the front wheel drive setup. if you have any questions, email me at [email protected]
