Car wiring diagram

8.0L 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 Club Cab 4x4 I would like a diagram of the head light circuit. I want to hook my snow plow lights in with a relay so only the truck lights or the plow lights are on not both. I would like to hook in for high and low beam before they split to each light. Thanks Kevin

I would like to find the wires for high and low beams as close to the steering column as possible before they split to go to each separate head light

I don't know how your vehicle is wired but the typical lighting circuit is similar to that used by many vehicles.

The wire you seek is the output to the headlight circuit from the main light switch - if it is a separate switch. It wouldn't be practical if combined with the dipswitch. A testlamp would easily identify the correct wire.

Installing an additional switch in that wire (a 3 terminal change over switch) would send the feed either to the plough lights relay or the headlamps, though it is possible the rear fog light(s) wouldn't be able to be used with the plough lights.

I suggest you don't try the same modification when you buy a later model computerised truck.

Sounds like it's worn out, best take into the shop for repair, should only cost $20 with parts.

4x4 indicator light on even when not in 4 wheel drive

The sensor for the 4x4 shifter is stuck. Mine does it when there's a lot of snow and ice under the truck. Unplug it, unscrew it and clean it. If that doesn't work replace it.

Snow plows

Did you bleed the air out of the system?
Also your lights will dim when running the pump. I dont know off hand how many amps it draws but
it is enough to dim your lites. that problem is normal..
Only other thing I can think of is the cable running from your battery to your pump a battery cable or a thin wire. It should be a heavy 0 gauge wire or you
wont get enough amps to run the pump to its max
