There is a part under the hood toward the front of the car that is leaking red fluid does anyone know what could be the problem or at least what part that is?
The red fluid is transmission fluid, check the transmission fluid level, if it get's to low the transmission will burn out and your looking at a expensive job.
The fluid could be leaking from the transmission cooler line to the radiator in front of the car. Have it repaired and keep an eye on the fluid level to the transmission. Note: transmission fluid is flammable and may catch fire if slashed on to any hot area's like the exhaust.

Well the only thing that would be leaking red fluid is the transmission,it has red fluid in it and it bolts to the rear of the engine i would take it to a repair center and have it looked at before it burns up the trannsmission

Park your vehicle overnight on a clean patch of pavement or a large, clean piece of white paper.Either tape some sheets of paper together or buy a roll of plain white commercial wrapping paper. Newspaper is too absorbent and can change the color of the stains.
Place marks on the paper.
Show where each of the four wheels is resting, and indicate the front and rear ends of the vehicle.
In the morning, move the vehicle and look for small puddles or traces of liquid on the ground or paper.
Touch and smell each puddle or trace of liquid.
Here's how to decipher the evidence:
If it's clear, watery, and under the air conditioner: It's probably normal condensation if you've used the air conditioner recently.
If it's black or dark brown, greasy, and located under the engine area:It's probably oil. Figure out which part of the vehicle was over the spot. Look under the hood around the oil filter and the engine and under the vehicle for leaks around the oil drain plug, the crankcase, and the oil pan below it.
If it's thick, black or tan oily liquid: Gear oil may be leaking from a manual transmission, the differential, an axle, or the steering gears. Any of these leaks needs immediate attention.
If it's red, pink, or reddish-brown and greasy and you have an automatic transmission: It's probably transmission fluid. Check the transmission dipstick, and if the level is low, top it off with the proper transmission fluid. Then check the dipstick again in a day or two. If it's low again, have a professional check the transmission to make sure that the seals are intact.
If it's watery or slippery; green, red, blue, or yellow; and is coming from under the radiator or engine: It's probably coolant. Check the radiator, pressure cap, engine, and hoses for leaks.
If it's oily; pink, red, or clear; and you find it toward the front bumper (usually on the driver's side): It's probably power-steering fluid. The power-steering system is sealed and shouldn't lose fluid.
If it's a light-colored or clear fluid: It may be brake fluid. Even if the leaks have dried, the stains should be visible. Leaky brakes are too dangerous to leave unattended. Have a professional repair any brake fluid leaks immediately.
If it smells like rotten eggs: It's battery acid. Avoid getting it on your hands or clothes and have the battery replaced.
If it smells like gasoline: It probably is! If the smell is coming from under the hood, check around the fuel pump and the fuel injectors - or the carburetor if your vehicle has one. If the leak seems to be under the center of the vehicle, check the fuel lines. If it's under the rear end, check the fuel tank.
What is the leak Power steering - Brake fluid - ATF - engine oil - coolant? (ATF Auto transmission fluid) Before you can be advised we need to know what the fluid is concerned. Although you have visual signs the leak source may well be above that location. Have a good look round under hood. a look with a flashlight under the center of your car will confirm were its coming from , also red type fluid is used in power steering and this will drip from front drivers side if its that also a good item to shine a light on to give it a look over too , if your unable to get under car 4 a look then go to trusted service bay and ask for a ck of leaks they usually will accommodate one as they want the chance 4 repair
never go under the car with anyone or pet inside the car and never do so on a hill either , chock wheels both sides with large bricks/stones to keep car from moving any direction
my car did this last night while on Hwy same lights on , then I pulled over and steam { ?} was coming from under hood & red fluid was under the hood all over ... at shop being fixed on Monday anyone else had this? I suggest that if these lights are on get to shop fast. Lights where on for about 1 mth on my car all fluids where normal and car ran fine until last night while I was driving 70 MPH
open the coolant overflow tank under the hood. if fluid is the same color, you have a coolant leak somewhere towards the front which is running along something and dripping off at the back.
if not the same color then open your washer tank and check that fluid for color match. if the same then your washer system has a leak, could be front or rear if it has rear washer
Hello check your transmission fluid with engine running if really low you have found your leaking.Only other is power steering same method.Under the hood you will see a yellow colored stick that is the transmission dip stick.Power Steering is closer to the front of the of the engine and fan belt are top.
Hello: If this is a rear wheel drive, you will find a dip stick under the hood towards the passenger side rear of the engine compartment remove the dip stick (should have a red handle) with a proper size funnel add transmission fluid through the tube for the dipstick. If it is a front wheel drive the procedure is the same except on the front wheel drive the dipstick is on the driver side toward the rear of the engine compartment. Check the fluid with the engine running. Do not overfill. Does the engine speed up when you press the accelerator? If so if the car moves after you put fluid in the transmission the you need to find out where the leak is and repair it. Use dextron3 transmission fluid
hello, check make sure, emergency brake handle is all the way down, check brake fluid, usually when light comes on you are low on brake fluid, also have front brakes,rear brakes checked out, you may need new brakes on front or rear, make sure there is know brake fluid leaking from your master cyclinder under the hood where you put fluid in brake resivor
Look under the hood, there should be a red little handle that says atf on the drivers side, toward the front of the engine compartment.Now, with the car idleing in park, pull out the red handle and wipe off the dip stick, then reinsert the stick in the transmission fill tube and pull it back out.The fluid should be toward the top hole on the stick, or the "h" mark on the stick.
