What happens when the tcu goes out? on a 1990 honda accord

I have a 1990 haonda accord and the "s" light and check engine light both came on, the speedometer qiut working is this due to the tcu or the speed sensor?

    GOOD JOB, CHANGED THE SPEED SENSOR TONIGHT AND THE LIGHTS WENT OFF AND IT SHIFTS BETTER. MY WIFE CALLED THE HONDA DEAER IN ROCKSPRINGS WYOMING TODAY AND ASKED WHERE THE SPEED SENSOR WAS LOCATED AND THEY TOLD HER THAT THE AR HAD 2 ONE BY EACH WHEEL AND THAT MY CAR DOES NOT HAVE A TCU. WHAT A JOKE, HIS NAME IS DUSTIN MOSES, HIS FAMILY OWNS THE PLACE AND HE WAS TRYING TO RIP WY WIFE OFF, THANKS AGAIN...

Check around the ecu and a tcu for moisture. Others have reported similar issues and find the carpet very damp. Some have pulled the control modules to dry out and let carpet dry and the issue was resolved. Of course, if theRe is moisture then you need to fix that leak, and the damage could be too bad to fix by letting it dry.

It is uaually a bad ECM (car computer). However it could be computer wiring shorting out as well. This is very difficult to find and fix because the wires could be shorting out anyewhere in the circuit.

You will need to have the Tranny checked to see if it is a TCU or a bad solenoid in the Tranny.

HI. This is a TCU fault. This is intermittently occurring at this time, but it will eventually get worse. You will need to have the TCU scanned for possible transmission trouble codes. I suspect that the TCU will need to be replaced or there may be an issue concerning the solenoid pack. You will need those codes to know for sure.

My honda 1993 wouldnot go forward , only goes reverse gear does not shift.
A common problem with 93 Honda was the TCU unit (the brain) which is located under the passenger floor board. You can go to a salvage yard and get a used one relatively cheap, a new one is very expensive. And, this is a do-it-yourself project. If I can do it, you can.

If it just started to do what you say and you have not had any grinding sounds etc. I would try this first. Personally, I now keep a spare TCU on hand, just in case for my 93 Honda.

check under seat and see if wire connector has come loose what green light are you talking about if you mean the green "s" light you just hit the switch on the shifter for firmer and higher shifts if its an automatic transmission.

Where is the tcu in a 2002 honda accord
it is the Transmission Control Unit. you have to find the reason why the TCU is flashing the D4 fault code. not replace the unit. have your vehicle scanned for another code. your transmission or transaxle is giving you a warning that something is wrong .

Your TCU (Tranmission Control Unit) is bad, It is located behind the passenger side kick panel. There is a diode that burns out. it can be bought on ebay for about 79.00 with exchange.

the tcu is on the right ( passenger) side footwell, under the carpet..the carpet has velcro tabs on it that will allow it to be pulled back...once the carpet is back there is a metal cover over the computers that is held on with 4 10mm bolts..take them out and you can remove the tcu!
