After it got so cold recently, my husband went out to start our veh. At first when he started the 96 it had no oil pressure because it was so cold. He shut it off and restarted. Ran fine. After it got warm, he decided to take it for a little drive. As soon as he put it in reverse, it would die and he has to keep his foot on the gas to keep it running. Even when it idles ok when you start, as soon as it gets warm, it will start to die, and won't stay running when you put it in gear.

Remove IAC motor/valve on side of throttle body that regulates idle especially under load conditions, and clean it & the port good with throttle body cleaner & re-try. If it cures it for a while, then does it again, replace it with new one.

your problem may not be the engine. you may have a bad Torque Control Solenoid. try disconnecting the 4 plug ( square ) on the tranny. then drive it around. if it runs ,then you need to replace that Solenoid. call tranny shop for more

It's not throwing any codes at all, no engine light, nothing.
It did this once before and it was a lttile plug right behind the alternator. After he had worked on it, he didn't quit push the plug back on all the way, adn this would cause it to die. But the engine light would also come on and he would have to disconnect the battery and let the computer reset every once in a while. I'm wondering if that plug just finally went bad, and what is it called?
