Question about Ford Escape

1 Answer

Car shakes accelerating

My 2011 ford escape has been experiencing problem usually between 70 to 100km/h. Car is jerking and it feels like it is running out of fuel. Also, the most evident problem is when i am driving uphill and only sometimes when i am driving on open highway. I went somehwere to check my transmission and they said everything was ok with it. They suggested that something was wrong with the engine even though no "engine" light comes on or that there are no codes. If someone knows what's going on or has had or has the same problem please write back I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I would have my fuel pump checked and a pressure test done on it to see how much pressure it is putting out also would check all the filters to the fuel filters and the air filters.this could be your problem starving for fuel. hope this helps,

Drop in to an Autozone, or Pep Boys, or similar big parts store & they will usually scan for codes free. This will hopefully eliminate all the guess work, or at least point everyone in right direction for better diagnosis. If not obvious from codes what the problem is, get back to us and we'll help you out.

SOURCE: Audi A4 ESP light comes on and car shakes/vibrates strongly

I am dealing with this issue with my 2003 a4. The Esp Is your tractioon controll, which is tied into your Abs system. Your Brake light Circuit is also tied in, so. Check your Brake Fluid, all Rear Bulbs, then look into Abs wheel speed sensor. $100 bucks each. The yaw sensor is unlikely culprit, but the ESP Controll module which is located under glove box is most likely the suspect.<!-- from fixya rte -->

Probably the MAP manifold absolute pressure module is bad. Usuall the crank position switch is a cheap fix,if it's not the MAP.
Make SURE you have no disconnected or broken, decayed VACUUM lines.

Sluggish acceleration, frequent jerking and engine knock at high RPM

Sounds to me like the timing is off! it COULD be bad gas though! run that tank through, and refill, then see how it feels!

My car is making a jerking/thumping feeling. I thought at first i could just feel the bumps in the road but it's gotten worse and def not the road. It mostly happens when I accelerate. What could it be?

This could be due to the gear that the car is running in as its accelerating. In a low gear, the engine will produce a shaking feeling, and the rpms will drop very low. There really is no fix for this, the gear position is determined by the car's internal computer. As soon as you've reached enough speed, this shaking should subside, as the speed/gear ratio has reached its ideal position. If this doesn't sound like what you are experiencing in your car, then it might be something more serious.
