2006 Ranger heater doesn't work but AC does.

The Temperture control does not change air from cold to hot when the switch is turned.

Possible blend door issue. Either the blend door is stuck, or the actuator that is suppose to open and close the door is broken / no longer working. Common problem, and causes a LOT of headaches.

I had this same problem, I replaced the blend door actuator behind the glove box. Its a little bit of a struggle but It can be done with a socket wrench and box wrench. Start by opening the glove box and pushing the sides in to let it hang down while you get back there. The unit was white in color on my truck. Just three small bolts hold it down. The bolt in back is the hardest but I just put the socket wrench on it and kept turning it.

The a/c in my 2006 ford f150 lariat wont throw any cold air.The a/c pump kicks in .The line frosts up.The blower is working but it just blows hot air.The climate control seems to be switching everything...

Take a look under the dash at the heater/ac blend door(s) and cycle hot to cold on he dash heat control while asking for AC and the vehicle running.Do the doors move fully?
You may be able to manually help the door move to get cold air.

The fan works, air conditioning works, but the air wont heat up(knob turns to hot on thermostat). is it a vacuum hose problem, and how do we get to it?

The most common cause of this in the Ranger and the Explorer is that a part called the air temeperature control blend door acuator or the blend door shaft that the electric actuator moves has broken, this door is what shuttles between the heater core and the AC core and provides either heated or cooled air, or a blend of the two hot and cold air streams.

No heat only cold air comes out i have a 2006 torrent no heat

Hi there,

Well If you can turn on the heater but only cold air comes out you should check the blend door. It controls the door to switch from cold air to hot. It sits directly behind the heater/AC controls. It is white square plastic piece (approx 3in x 5in half inch thick and has a plastic screw rod that attaches to the heater/AC controls and they strip out

Good Luck!!

Thanks

With AC on cold, Drivers air full hot & passenger side full Cold

that is a good possibilty, but before I pulled the trigger I would try this first. unhook the battery for 5 minutes, rehook it, now turn the key on, wait for 2 minutes, now start the truck and see if the doors now work. sometimes this works, its worth a try.

Driver air cool, passenger air warm or hot

Are you sure you checked the temp door ?Is it hot air ,like the heater?First check the ac compressor to see if it is actually turning, then check the large ac lines near the firewall near the windshield to see if they are cold, and sweating. If they are that rules out freon problem. The temp door might not be moving, check all selections on ac control and watch is door and see if one of them doesn`t move.If one door doesn`t move then it is the one you need to fix,if I can help, let me [email protected]

Ac blows hot air ac compressor is ice cold but the vents blow hot air when enige is hot. bloows cold air when engine is cold

check your air diverter doors, sounds like the door for heat is open, when a/c is selected the doors should move and close the heater off. the heater will over power the a/c. the door controller is located on the environmental station under the dash neat to the floor. the control is electronic and probably not functioning
