Hi all, I have a 2005 Ford Falcon BF. My car had been sitting in the garage for about 6 months, had to fill it with petrol, battery was flat so recharged it overnight, went to start the car but no crank. Am worried it could be the battery as it was saying it's fully charged on the power charge, but the colour on the battery surface hadn't changed to the green to say it's OK. Everything in the car turns on like the radio etc but no crank when I turn the ignition on, thoughts and help please?
Ok first things first , If your car does not start then it should have a fault code stored in it's ECM , have you checked with a scanner?
A faulty code can put you in the right direction to repair the vehicle straight away without wasting any valuable time. Each coils are controlled by ECM, check for ignition power to the coils. Do you have Injection pulse? If you do then most likely it's not a crank angle sensor or ECM issue. If the car was immobilsed then it would not crank over.
Unfortunatly you have to do more checks before moving forward. Cheers

SOURCE: How to Remove the Rear Bumper - BA Fairmont/Falcon
Firstly, you need to remove the rear splash shields from within the rear wheel arches and also the tail lights. Then remove the scrivets from the lover edge of the bar. Next remove the scuff plate at the boot opening and fold the carpet back. There are four nuts which hold the bar on, undo these and then lift the sides of the bar up and pull out. The bar has large clips on the side which hold it in place.

Well if the coil is good, the only thing it could be is the lead from the coil to the distributor cap, Take the lead out of the cap and place it on the engine block somewhere, But do not hold it on there whilst the key is turned, Get a friend to watch for a spark as you turn the key, if it sparks, There is something wrong with you distributor cap, if it doesn't spark then you could have problems with the electronic ingition

Just had the same thing happen to my BA. No hot air. I'm a bit of a handyman so I had a go myself. 8 Hours is a reasonable estimate. You have to remove the steering column and entire dashboard to get the bugger out. Not a job I would attempt again.
